Default Tire Pressure

all the radial guys, what kind of tire pressure are you running at the drag strip. im currently running a BFG radial 205/50/15 I believe and looking for the optimal tire pressure running on a 300+ hp turbo car

let me know what works for you guys I know all setups vary but I need some good answers since I'm just test n tuning and only get 3 or 4 runs per session at the track so I cant really get a good bias to go off of on 3 or runs
thanks

Key question is this. Is there air available at the track? If so...play with the pressure. I wouldn't drop a radial below 15psi though. Car weight plays a factor in this as well. Heavier car will require more pressure so prevent too much sidewall sag. Start at 20-22 and work down.

thanks for the info, I will try that out and there is air at the track and I take air with me, just hard to get a good amount of passes to base results off of, I just want to get some good clean passes to determine what works best.

I was running 12 psi with the same tires on SI rims. Started at 20 and it was getting a lot of wheel hop. Anything less than 12 had no improvement. 2080 Lbs with me in the car with around 270 hp. Had to slip the clutch a lot to minimize the wheel hop.

Why does there need to be air at the track?

With my Camaro, the best 60fts I got was with 19-20 psi in the tires with the Mickey Thompson drag radials. Anything lower and it wanted to wheel hop badly.

so I tried 15 psi last week and the track and didn't make it off the line, snapped the axle at the hub do to not preloading the axles. going back tonight and gonna make a pass on 15 psi. which seems to be the best grip ive found so far.
