I found a older in car video of his car and the cage was sketchy at best, especially for the power and speed he was putting out. I don't know dick about drag racing but im sure my local track, sonoma raceway, would not let him run or make him stop after they saw his et. Regarless RIP hope the best for his family.

R.I.P

While I may not be an expert, doesn't it look like the roll cage might have been a bit weak compared to the power the car generated? Or is it actually missing one? Because I am not able to spot any bars in the driver's area.

Here is what his cage and harness looked like.... Not sure what his harness was bolted too but couldnt have been to anything good or he would have been somewhat stationary.

Look at the door bars too low and loose belts mounted to the floor don't see how it got through tech , should be a wake up call crashes will always happen cars are easy to replace... Super sad stuff

very sad. RIP

the roll bar doesn't have a diagonal in the main hoop. pretty much make the roll bar useless. but looking the at one pic where the helmet in on the car, looks like the seat failed, ripped off and ended up on the passenger side. so he was probably bouncing around in the car.

security will need to be better on track and at the tech.

there was a lot to factory in this. Event being too cold yet still allowing event to happen, track condition, cage, paramedics, techs allowing. All of this could of been avoided. Im deeply sorry we all lost a brother in the racing industry. We simply can't just blame the cage. Sometimes it better to have tech say "No"!

Tech in the middle of the country from the tracks I've been to is pretty much non existent. East coast if you have a crack in the windshield You can't run even if the rest of the car is up to tech. Around here it's pretty much run what you brung. After making multiple 150+ passes I was told to slow it down or put a chute on the car by local track but that's about it. We ran mid 9's 150+ a whole season on a roll bar no questions asked. The car now has a Whitfield 8.50 cage in it as I wanted more safety. In the light of this I now want a 25.5 upgrade the cage. Can't be to careful honestly. The rules are there for
Your safety not to just make you spend money.

Always hits home when a fellow racer passes. Condolences to those who knew him and let this be a lesson for those who skimp on saftey protocol.

I didn't know him personally, but met him a couple times and he was a staple figure at all of the import races in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas. Sad that he passed away, but he went out doing what he loved at least. RIP.

Such a sad and unfortunate event. Safety should ALWAYS be the #1 priority on a car and at events. This could have been prevented had the proper steps been taken, possibly had a driver walk away with just some bruises and broken bones. We need to treat the safety on the car like we do our motors. "overbuild it and get as much out of it as possible"
We can all sit here and point fingers, its the techs fault, it's the car/driver/cage (or lack thereof) fault, it was the tracks fault, etc. What is comes down to is WE ALL need to do our part and situations like this can be avoided. This was a failure all around the community (racers/track officials/tech etc), not just by one person or one thing. We all cant be naive in thinking "it wont happen to me", Jason was a hell of driver and it happened to him. Safety>Speed any day.
RIP Jason. Your AM B series has been an inspiration for many years now.

lets not make his death be forgotten
I think the horse been kicked beyond death here (its probably on level 86 in heaven by noe along with elvis and tupac)
The safety was just lacking period.
It was his responsibility to put a proper cage
It was tech responsibility to make sure he has a proper safety for the car
It was track responsibility to make sure safety at the track
Fail at many levels at once, you can go fast many times and get lucky but luck always runs out and when it does some people get that feeling some ignore it...

Let this be a wakeup call to all those people spending alll their cash on motor and none on safety

This is very similar to what hondas went through in early 2000s when you have 20000 dollars in upgrades and no alarm, ur car gets stolen and you cry
And the circle continued for years until enough hondas got stolen

Should we also wait until enough people fataly crash before the import community starts to self regulate and not point fingers to the techs?
Techs are only therr because people put their own safety last

Everyone keeps asking me why am I putting a 10 point cage in car that only ran 11's in the past, my answer is; An accident at 50mph can be as deadly as one at 200mph. why wait till its too late when in fact my goal is low 9's, plus I also do unregulated roll races. Safety first. From kill switch to Helmet, Cage to fire suit. If it makes power it can go fast, and if it go fast it can crash.

RIP.

I was turned away from the tech at Epping for a crack in the windshield, was quite a surprise but that's the rules. Car only runs high 11's but we put a cage in it as we intend to go faster but the car can't be too safe so it's good to have it anyway. Even at our home track they rarely check our car as they know us but at least we know our car is good. I have seen many guys running fast cars without cages at all, let alone a 6 point. I would imagine some good will come of this, people should think more and hopefully tracks will do a better job of making their tracks safer as well as the racers.

Idk why they didn't but it took a while for it to get there. There was also a motor cross race going on near the end of the track which could of made the cold concrete even worse. At all the import face off events I've been to there is never an ambulance on sight. the track was most likely not taken good care of.it sure dosent look like they put any money into it often it's pretty run down.
