"great" if it fit better...
Oh well, I guess I'll just quadruple check my work.

spoke with john at PG today.. He said that the shims need to be re-arranged, and the instructions that I have are the old ones that dont mention this... hopefully that will do the trick....

Re: pics of phantom grip cradle install and thoughts on it (thermal)
one thing to add here, the instructions i got just say to remove the 5th gears. the 5th gear synchro also needs to be removed otherwise the case will not close. my dumb moment for the week.

correct, if you dont remove the syncro the shaft will be about a 1/4 inch too long and wont fit the case.

make sure the large washer on the top of the main shaft is aligned correctly or the case will not close either. Check the snap ring on the countershaft too. Both of these wil hold the case about 1/4" from closing.

Re: (ykracing)
<-----(pats himself on his back) i figured it out. After reading the whole thread and drinking a cold one,i decided to go back to the shop try some things on the thread, like remove the syncro for 5th gear, and rearrange the shims.Turns out that i needed to put all 3 shims on top to bring up the bearing so the clip will go in and it also alligned all the gears up perfect.
here are some pics.

Re: pics of phantom grip cradle install and thoughts on it
Possible it may be shimmed wrong. I have a liberty cuff and I may have still done it the wrong way, but it worked and is still going strong. I used a caliper gauge to measure the stock 5th gear height and shimmed the bearing on the cuff up until it matched the height.
Id recommend calling another company that still actively makes and installs those. Mfactory, liberty, and IPG probably can give more info. They sell them and use them in their race cars Im sure.

i guess i'll pull it back out and get rid of it. I had it laying around. I'll buy another from a company that has support in case i have any other problems.

Re: pics of phantom grip cradle install and thoughts on it
correct me if i am Wrong
when installing a GEAR SHAFT BRACE
shouldn't the counter shaft and brace move freely
up and down on main shaft
allowing you to re-clip the snap ring to counter shaft top bearing
why would you want to shim bearing up?... the gears will not line up...
im saying this, cause i have this issue on my GSR
my counter shaft and brace do not move up or down freely or easly on the main shaft, it moves but only with force aka prying
it seem like brace bearing that is on main shaft is binding or that cuff is to short ( causing it to be too tight)
ive watch this over and over again
8:50 to the end for reference
