Default pic request, aftermarket or fabbed DRAG steering column.

Looking for ideas on the best way to fab up a steering column. I'm finally dumping all the factory cluster and all the extraneous wiring from when the car was a street car... now, all I want is a quick release steering wheel hanging in there and the minumim in aftermarket gagues. TIDY and clean.

Need ideas.

MUCHO appreciated.

-Vector.

We have the OEM Si column with a quick release that mates to the splines. Ryan can fill in the details. I'm sure others here can to.

you can dump all that crap and still keep the OEM column, and tie it in to a dash bar for rigidity. Guess i just dont see the need to build your own?

reason 1... It gives me a chubby to see an interior like that.
reason 2... it will be cleaner, and more purpose built and designed.
reason 3... I'm hoping it will save 5-10 pounds before it's all over.
reason 4... Most important reason, I like to make stuff.
reason 5... see reason #1.

I'm just looking for Honda installs for ideas, here's a few others:

That's what I'm talkin about, tidy.

If you don't mind my asking, what did you use for supports, and u-joints? I was thinking about starting with this stuff from Bickel.

Appreciate the reply.

If you don't mind my asking. How far down the steering column did you go, all the way to the rack? And if so, is there a spline adaptor "doo-dad" that you used, or is it common? I'm utterly ignorant of those parts.

well i ran the column down to the fire wall and i made the adapter myself by drilling out the spline onthe joint(cause it was different than honda rack) and drilled and pinned it to the shaft on the rack ill try and find a pic

doesn't it seem as though "somewhere" there is the splined half of the steering U-joint that we need to make it perfect?
