One thing Joe told me "you know how many times having Motec has saved my engine?" These systems allow you to add sensors and monitor every aspect of your setup to help avoid issues, it also gives you the ability to do things Hondata can't.
....the motor, trans etc will last longer at 850hp than 1300.

That's it right there. Everyone is always like Motec is insanely expensive it's not worth. But how much does a new motor cost? Reliability is the main reason I want to pick up I used Motec set up for next winter. I'd rather hang around The 800hp so I can keep the transmission together. I just want a fun, consistent car. I don't need the stress of sfwd. This car already gave me shingles last summer. I'd end up having a stroke trying to complete with the big dogs.
You can do that with AEM V2 also. It has maps for oil pressure, fuel pressure , EGT sensors or AFR sensor. You set up a map to shut the car off if any of these fail while you are running the car hard down the track. That's all we use on our car a simple AEM V2 and run consistent 8.4 in all weather conditions. We are switching to Infinity and that has a lot more features.

As I say, the fast guys will always be fast, regardless of the rules. If for some odd reason the Motec was banned, I'd run Haltech, lol.
It really comes down to experience and controlling the tire, the turbo used made noticeably less power than others, but its what I had available to me at the time, so that is what I used.
You can try to level the playing field with all sorts of silly rules, but until you can limit human brain power, there is no point.
The guys pushing stuff to the limits will break stuff more often as well, as we seem to break something every other event. Just go out and have fun, and if you want to go faster, consider enlisting the services of those that know how to do it, we all win that way.
