Default K24 Chain Tensioner

Has anyone found a better mouse trap for the K24 tensioner? We can only safely go 4 events before ours tends to fail. Any after market tensioners I've heard about are even more precarious.

What cams, sprockets and valvetrain are you running? Some combos can lead to a very short lifespan of the tensioner.

Inline Pro Tensioner = end of story

Inline Pro K20 / K24 Timing Chain Tensioner

Install it and forget about it...only one that has proven itself time and time again to work.....

your cams or something else is causing this. most people are running stock and not having this problem. if its the cams no other tensioner is gonna last either.

OK how is the inlinepro one any different? Looks like another modified OEM unit, like TODA and everyone else..

It is a modified oem unit, With lots of R&D in it figuring out what does and does not work. Have yet to see one fail.

OK but what makes it different is my question? Other companies put stops in them, harder springs, sleeves or whatever. I dont see how else the design could be improved? Strengthening the teeth or ratchet? Just because you havent seen one broken doesnt mean it doesnt break. How many people do you know with this specific tensioner anyway? And I am guessing most of them made good choices for cams and engine builders and such, also adding to the chances of the part lasting. Just wondering, is all...

I agree with Mr. Reinen, if you're killing tensioners, look into your cam/valvetrain combo. The ramp rate on the cams are what usually beat up tensioners. I've seen every kind of tensioner fail, all related to camshaft choice.

I would say that if they spelled it out on the interwebs for the public to steal, then that wouldnt be a good business strategy so if you need to KNOW, it might get expensive trying to understand that. Sometimes you just have to take the recommendation of those that have tried a product in the real world and give it high praises.

I too am a HUGE fan of the Inline PRO unit...we have tried them ALL, and the Inline PRO is the unit to use.

Inline PRO, Its what we recommend for our K series stuff.

Whats your Camshaft / Valvetrain as it sounds as if you're having a slap/controlling issue.

Thanks all. We run the K24 in an oval track pavement National midget - naturally aspirated/mechanically injected, on methanol. We run fairly aggressive cams - which could be causing the issue. We've not tried the Inline Pro though. We have been running stock tensioners - and they tend to last 5-6 races.

this thread is useless without answering this. we can talk about tensioners all day but it is proven that a bad set of cams will eat up any tensioner that exists.

5-6 races isn't bad on a midget. Keep changing them out and roll with it. Change your guides too.
