Cut a section out of the bar then Very very carefully remove spot welds and pull out. Not much room your hands will get cut up.

is this legal for the sfwd class as long as you meet weight requirements per turbo size

I weigh exactly where I want to weigh in my 99 hatch and i haven't cut a single thing out of the car. Only removed unnecessary parts, brackets, bolts and pieces. Interesting.

More so taking weight out of one area to put weight in another. If the car is at say 2400 for the class and you want to put 100lb in the front bumper your choices are to now be 2500 or find 100lb to pull from another area and stay at 2400

That 10 point roll cage is hella heavy, and the 99 SI coupe was already to start with. Taking out those bars would help a little since the driver will have protection from the cage incase of side impact.
