Default How often are you guys changing your fuel filters?

I have a sumped tank with a -8 outlet going to a 10 micron filter. Then goes to the A1000, from there to an aeromotive 100 micron filter. Seems like im changing the post pump filter every 3 months or so of street/track duty. Pulled the pump apart and everything is good in it. Thinking about changing the pre filter to a 40 or 100 micron. BUt dont wanna be spending $150 on 2 filters every 3-4 months. Guess i should post, im using pump E85.

Why don't you use filters with stainless steel element so you clean them instead of replacing them?

You should have the larger micron filter pre pump and the smaller micron post pump. Get your self a 60 micron stainless steel filter before the pump and depending what injectors and fuel you should have 5-10 micron after the pump.

ditto on the stainless element, ive got the cheap summit ones and they just screw apart. you can remove the element and clean it in a couple minutes

advice. do not use small filters, get a big one, the small ones clogs very easy.

What turbo ls said you have your microns backwards. Get a stainless unit so you can clean it. I just picked up a 10 micron stainless unit from b&r gitttings. I had always read you can only get 10 micron in fiberglass to be e85 compatible, but they had them in stainless when I called to place an order.

I wonder why it would be a risk being that most ID injectors have 7 micron filters in the tops.
