I agree with transmission. We were breaking Liberty faceplated stuff on mid 600ish hp. And trust me, once you start breaking transmissions you get sick of it very quickly. If you can't test you won't go fast. Go with a dog box and you can test all year long as long as everything else is in order. You can go fast without all the baller stuff but it means going to the track a lot. The more power you can put in earlier the faster you will go. Not sure how the faceplated stuff will work with a lot of power at the beginning of 2nd lol

I would definitely order the g force shifter first bc there was a part that they needed to complete the kit on backorder for almost a year and now there in stock but who knows how many they made and when they will be out again

Had a little slop in the steering column and figured I may as well swap in an eg subframe while I was replacing the rack.....in preps for kingpin bushings.


I have read many different reports on how much weight is saved from doing this swap and it is officially 9lbs difference. I weighed each complete setup; ek subframe with control arms, steering rack, tie rods and all hardware.....then all eg replacement parts.

Was hoping for a bit more but heh 9lbs is 9lbs. Also, it cleans up the back of the bay a lot.

I'm aware of both the FCS and NRG subframe replacements. Shaving weight had almost nothing to do with the reason I did this. I did this to swap in a set of LCA and compliance busings that are kingpin compatible (kingpin really only does eg/dc and not ek) Also, it was cheap and looks a lot less bulky.

I'm sure its a nice piece, but with spherical bearing in the OEM busings, I'll have plenty of rigidity and I will be making enough power to where weight should not be the issue.

It's what IPG suggested.....I have read other people running the rates you say and thought I'd trust those dudes.

Would love to hear a bit more of the science behind choosing spring rates for these struts.
It's mostly based on the weight of the car is what I gathered from what little is out there on them for the drag application.

The way Strange Engineering explained it, which is confirmation of what Locash and other guys told me, is that if you were to scale your car you base spring rates on scale weight. So, if you weigh the car and let's say the front is about 750 per side and 400 per side in the rear, those are the spring rates you order.

That is how I was told by Locash and Strange Engineering to figure spring rate out. So when I scaled my car over at Locash that is basically what it was. I was like 780 per side in the front and like 350 or 360 in the rear so I ordered 750 for the front and 375 for the rear.

However, the good thing is that the Hypercoils are very cheap and you can use those in your setup and if they work great no problem, if you want to swap them out down the road they are cheap.

The good thing is that you got Strange Engineering coilovers and Kingpin parts for your car. Ever since I made that change the ride is so smooth and worth every penny.

Good call on the gforce box. Honestly it gets old real quick breaking gears and it'll **** you off when it lets go in fourth and you lose a race by inches when you were 2-3 cars out on them.

This is funny.... Didn't end up with a dog box after all. had two different options in my price range and one ended up being a scam and the other decided not to sell. So I bought a box from Roy Rhodes that was supposedly a box that had been sitting for over a year (stock gears, welded case, sf scha, mfactory 3/4) but he's been super busy and hasn't been able to get it shipped for 3wks.

So the car is ready to hit the track for some testing as soon as I can get this damn trans sorted out.....and hit the alignment rack

Here's the real shitty part- I already had a brand new never used Libertys faceplated stock gsr gearset coated with a cuff....but decided to take the plunge on a dogbox. I had $2500 and figured if I got $1500 for my trans I'd be able to pick up a local gforce box for $4k....so I listed my trans, it sold instantly and I was stoked. Well, then the original seller decided he wanted to see his car run this year and wanted to keep it. (totally get it, but it did suck to get my hopes up) Now here I am with $4000 in hand and the same day two different dudes hit me up with boxes. The first of the two was Roy Rhodes with a box just like mine except for it has the SF scha and it also has mfactory 3/4 straight cut gears (which I like because why not have a little stronger 3/4...get a flow control valve and take 2nd easy should hold up ok for the season.) He was giving me a great deal on it and I thought; "I better get it since I don't see any boxes out there for $4k and I want to be racing come April. I commit to buy it but an hour later I get a message from a total scammer (didn't know it at the time) claiming to be from Idaho, five hours from me, with a PPG box, welded case, SF scha AND diff. for $3000. I about lose my mind. He gives me his cell and we arrange a time to meet halfway. I felt bad that I had already committed to buying the trans from Roy, I honored my word and paid him for his. I paid him then instantly listed it up for sale (for a little more than I paid....why not see if there is any action. Plus I really didn't have enough for both) Transmission sells in a day and now I am in business......

....alert....alert......we now interrupt this long story to bring you a SCAMMER ALERT!!

Yeah too good to be true....blah blah blah. I drove almost 3hrs to meet this dude and he left me hanging. ****. well now I'm double screwed because I just sold the trans that I really should have kept all along. I have to make a decision at this point; save up another few hundred (by the way I just bought my wife a trip to Hawaii for her birthday in May) OR tell the guy who I sold it too that I'm sorry but going to have to keep it, thinking that if I keep this trans I could also afford Kingpin and Strange stuff too. Sounded like 3 upgrades and some seat time would be a better investment for the season than 1 huge upgrade.

Fast forward 3wks. Now the trans that I bought, but shouldn't have, then sold, then unsold.....is now not even looking like an option. AND it snowed 24" today which was the official 1st day of the season and opening day at the track. WTF!!??? I swear I'm cursed.

The way I read it, you're dealing with retards. Might as well keep saving and buy a brand new gearset from a dealer who won't screw you around. Maybe Roy will get off his *** and either send you the transmission or refund the money, and I would be demanding the 2nd option at this point.. I keep hearing stories about Roy Rhodes screwing people, and it sucks to hear that someone else that has been in the industry so long is pulling this crap.
