Re: Drag Slicks Pressure?? (KamikazeRacinz)
I run 8psi in my slicks 13x7 bogart with 24.5-7.0-13 MT, but do not lower it to much or you will break your axles if you have a lot of whp. Just start at 12psi and work your why down intil you fill good.

Re: Drag Slicks Pressure?? (KamikazeRacinz)
the lower the tire pressrue doesnt necesrailly mean it will hook better.
you want the right tire pressure that it will still have a good contact patch as it goes down the track.. a too low tire pressure can hurt MPH in the end, but can increase 60ft in the begiinning.
so find the right psi for the best results.
work your way down from 14lbs or so until you learn the different launchin RPM's. psi, that your car needs.

my pressures for best traction,
20x6x14's on 14x5 steelies like 13-14 psi, great for NA cars. Much lower and the tire starts to cup giving less traction.
20x8x14's on 14x6 alloys like 12 psi, about the EDGE before the slick start spinning on the rim. WTF when you spin the slick on the rim, you'll wonder WTF just happened. TRUST ME.

My 22x8x15's worked best at 11-12psi, netting my fat prelude 1.9's but it also hurt my mph bigtime, 14.1@95mph allmotor.

Re: Drag Slicks Pressure?? (KamikazeRacinz)
I also have 22x15x8 MTs
11-12PSI also works well in my Accord
I run low 1.9s -13.52@103MPH All Motor

Re: Drag Slicks Pressure?? (speedworks)
each setup requires their own tire pressure. so to the beginners, we suggest starting out high then work your way down.
just because someone does good on 8lbs doesnt mean its the rigth psi for you.
play with the pressure... start up at 12-14lbs. see how that reacts and go 1 lbs lower each time to compare. its easier to do a comparison as you try out each pressure. when youre going from 8lbs to 10 lbs back to 7lbs. its not a very efficient way of testing out the slick.

Re: Drag Slicks Pressure?? (slowcivic)
Ya you have to take in consideration the temperature changes during the day. tire pressure can go up and down from the morning to the afternoon.
so watch the psi before you do your run.

Re: Drag Slicks Pressure?? (exospeedAMcrx)
also note that slicks are VERY thin and tend to leak air.
What I do at the track..........
first pass of the day, 12 psi COLD before burnout. I know the slicks will heat up and pressures goto 14.5-15.0 psi. I make a NA run launching at 6000-6500 rpm instead of 7500+ rpm. This lets me know if the track is grippy. If the slicks "moan" then track is normal to me. If they spin, I either didn't get a good burnout or excess water in staging area.
If the slicks hook and motor tries to bog, gonna be a axle twisting good time!
