custom wire harness?

Re: custom wire harness?
I'm kind of thinking what Tony meant was that if you’re going to spend a good amount of money on a harness that was made for a Motec just run a Motec. If you’re going to run an AEM get a harness for an AEM. Or maybe I'm wrong and he means the AEM isn't a good ECU which I wouldn't even come close to agreeing with. I'm sure he'll elaborate.

I thought s300 wasn't enough ecu....so I bought aem... the next week s300 went 8s. FML.
I see the pics of tepid1 harness...... can't the aem log everything that's there ?

Let's just say that if the cost of the harness was out of the picture, I think the price difference between an m400 ($3500) and an EMS is worth every penny and then some...

Add a Racepak to the ems price and then what's the difference in cost between that combo and Motec? How much functionality do you lose? Why not have it all under one roof?

Re: custom wire harness?
I was having this same dilemma a month or so ago.. Already had an S300 in the car, and wanted to log a lot more sensors. Looked into Racepak, and then came to the conclusion that it would be a much better idea to have an EMS that could log everything and actually do something with the data, rather than having an EMS and a datalogger that dont communicate with each other, and then having to analyze the data between both systems myself.
In the end, I ordered an M400 from Tony1. The S300 works great, but I just wanted a lot more info.

this is where miller comes in and says with a racepak and a vafc you can do everything you need LOL

Re: custom wire harness?
What do you guys that make your own harnesses use for wire tubing/loom? It looks like heat shrink in the pics in this thread but I am unsure. I just want to cut all the loom and E-tape off of mine because it is falling off and looks like hell! Also where you get it from would also be greatly appreciated!

Re: custom wire harness?
Before I went with the M800+SDL I was trying all sorts of stupid ****. NepTune+NLR AMS+1000+Prologger+dash display.... it all added up and I was still on the crappy OEM ECU.
It's an investment for sure. It's also nice to know that I can pull the M800 and throw it in just about any other veichle out there as well. All it takes is a new harness.

Re: custom wire harness?
there is a million ways to do things. brian fishers car is going fast with the very basics. whos to say he wouldnt be going 8.7s with some fancier stuff? the more control you have, the better. as long as you know what to do with it. i still love seeing guys like fisher go fast like that with super simple set ups though

Re: custom wire harness?
Not saying it can't be done. But the reliability, consistency, and amount you have to work from to go faster is the difference.
I went 8's on a 372, why don't we all just stick with that?

Competition pushes us all to progress. If you built a car to have fun with that doesn't really fit a competitive class, there's really no reason to push forward unless that's your personal goal.

Re: custom wire harness?
Good news man! I had some pics of your setup from BOTI. I made a quick CAD file for Tony, shows engine, alternator, lights, ignition the whole show. Looking at it more closely, I think they should be able to get you something going with this information. Just helping out where I can.
