Build thread for my Drag 1993 EG hatch
well ive had my integra at the current setup for 2 years now and ran an 11.750 at 120 mph leaving it in 3rd gear and backed it up with the run after with an 11.80 at 118 mph. i have everything but a clutch to put the 6765 ball bearing billet on my car and need to do a cage so i am legal at the track but i cant put a cage through the perfect interior of the teg so i bought this 1993 civic hatch for 750 bucks and started working on it
Start with the pictures
Here are the pics of what the car looked like when i bought it minus the stock spoiler i took off to trade to someone.
Here is a pic of the engine and engine bay
and after i removed the drivetrain
and the interior after i started removing some of it already
After i removed the carpet showing how nasty it was

Here is the interior after some cleaning
Here is the progression of the dash in and removing it and everything behind it
Behind dash
with the blower motor, heater core, and everything else removed
Showing the firewall mat
and without the mat and everything removed
here is some project pics of the engine bay after doing some of the wire tuck and cleaning
here is pics of the cowl with the wipers and motor removed
and after some cleaning
I got rear disk conversion for the car and decided to sand blaster and paint all of the parts
And here is a pic of the calipers black ones are with all the nasty grease and dirt on them and the new looking ones are after sand blasting

Re: Build thread for my Drag 1993 EG hatch
We should be taking it over to my buddies house this weekend to start shaving the bay. we will start with welding up all the holes that are not needed and making fill in plates for the bigger holes and getting those welded in there. start grinding all the welds down smooth. then we will start removing the seam sealer and hopefully start putting the filler in to get everything smooth.
hoping to get atleast some of the bondo in this weekend but we will see how fast we work. After we get the engine bay ready for paint we will do the body work on the car and weld up the side molding holes and then paint the bay and the body. after the body and bay are painted i will be running the -8 feed and -6 return for the fuel system and put the dual 340 pumps in the tank. Then it will be ready to start transferring everything over from the integra to the civic.

Well we started and got most of the holes welded up. There is a crap ton of holes in a honda bay its insane. spent all day welding holes and making plates to fill the bigger holes. next up is grinding everything down smooth and move to the next step.

Good old ABQ. I lived out there for just under 4 years, well I was stationed thereat Kirtland AFB. I liked living as close as I did to the dragstrip. Luckily I was there when they reopened it and I used to frequent it with my 1992 Sentra SE-R and went a few times with my EG hatch.
Good luck with it.
Good luck with it.

awesome its a lot of work especially if you want to shave the bay becuase take the count of how many holes you think are there and times it by about 3 or 4 lol. there are so many of them. its a long process. good luck with yours whenever you start it.

Re: Build thread for my Drag 1993 EG hatch
Ok got a little bit more work done on the car. finished grinding down everything and sand blasted all the welded spots and all the spot welds so we can start body filler. put some primer down so the body filler grabs onto it nice. and got some body filler down and waiting for it to dry. so we are going to continue tomorrow with it. also found out we are able to get some of the under coating on the fender wells off with the sandblaster so going to continue doing that as well.
Here is where we put some primer on for the body filler to grab onto easier
And here is where we started putting the body filler on

yesterday i was bored at work and decided to buy the stuff i need to do the brake line tuck as i need to do that before i can get the bay painted.
here is what i bought

http://www.rywire.com/catalog/typer-...der-p-159.html
CNC straight handle staging break
http://www.sandparts.com/servlet/the...e--dsh-/Detail
and the fittings for the brake line tuck

Re: Build thread for my Drag 1993 EG hatch
Got some work on the civic done this weekend. had to go to the junk yard and get a 98+ brake booster because my master cylinder didn't bolt up to the one that was on the car. then i started figuring out where the lines were going to through the firewall. Drilled some holes and started making lines.
Then my dad came over and helped me with the rear lines. Since i wont have an exhaust running down the exhaust tunnel we decided to bring the rear lines in through the tunnel especially because i am installing a staging brake also.
Next the car goes to the body shop to get the engine bay painted then everything goes from the teg into the civic.
Here is what it looked like before i removed everything. and i did remove everything a few months ago to start the bay
here is after i mounted the brake booster, master cylinder and drilled through the firewall
and here is after i made the lines i might change them to silver lines or something not sure yet
here are the pics of the rear lines and how we did them
