b16b tuning and upgrade
Hi guys. Would like an opinion frm u guys. I have a stock b16b in my civic eg9. So far the only thing ive done is putting in Unichip piggyback on d ecu (using ek9 ecu). After tuning im at 159bhp. I heard this engine cn b upgraded up to 180++bhp. Any advice on upgrading d engine? Most of d ppl i ask said to change d final drive frm 4.4 to 4.783. Any effects if i do this? Thx!

The B16B comes stock with more than 159bhp. It has 185bhp from the factory. Are you talking about wheel horsepower? (WHP)
Those motors really shine with more displacement (which makes it not a B16 anymore) and bigger cams. The 4.7 FD will make you "quicker", but not add power.
What are your goals for the car and what will it be used for?
IMO I would start a 1.8 or 2L bottom build and use the top end you already have. Even throwing a B20 shortblock under the top end you have will net you upwards of 50whp more if it is built and tuned right.
This may be a better topic for the AM forum.

Re: b16b tuning and upgrade
If your wanting to go into the motor for upgrades then throw a ls/b20 crank and rods in the motor with itr/b16/p30 pistons. It will bump you up to a 1.8L or a little bit over and still retain some good compression. Go into the allmotor section or google for some more research. In all honesty your setup should only need a few things and a good tune to make some good power without going into the motor. Go with a Skunk2 alpha 66mm or 70mm throttle body, if 70mm then get a skunk2 70mm thermal throttle body gasket, bypass the water jacket on the throttle body with a barbed male union, get a hondata intake manifold gasket, if you have the good 4-1 type r header then port the welds away on the inside and have a good welder tig the outside, accel internal replacement coil, ngk wires, if your motor still has the N1/CTR single belt crank pulley then go with a fidanza flywheel, 4.7fd would be nice, if e85 is available where you live and this is not your daily then thats a option but need to get bigger injectors(ID's, FIC, Gram's,Deatchwerks) and a walbro 450 fuel pump. no need to do all that but just some simple bolt ons or something to go off of. will definitely need a good tuner especially for the e85. my b20vtec is a stock bottom end, stock b16 head with type r cams, on e85 and a bunch of bolt ons and tune making good power.

Yeah I agree with what they said. Best bang for the buck would be a larger displacement bottom end. 2 liters will **** all over a b16 all day with all else being equal. The B16b is a fun little engine don't get me wrong, but there's only so much a 1.6 liter air pump can pump!
Been there. Done that. Doing it again
