I was just getting into Hondas in 2002 at age 14/15 so I never really experienced the "glory days" of Import Drag Racing but what happened?
I watch things like this, and find it very neat:

My personal opinion is a combination of the economy taking a dump and Chinese parts taking money from the domestic manufacturers who would have sponsored serious cars. I'm sure I'm only scratching the surface, but I think those are big factors.

The Leone racing civic (Yellow Fullrace built chassis) has been on and off Criagslist for $3000 a few times in the last couple months. I'd love to buy it having known Sav pretty well back in 2000-2004 era.... But I don't have the time or funds to really finish the car (essentially sold as a shell) or race it.... would be a good pickup for someone though. The car is SOLID.

Re: any Hot-Rod guys still in here?
super cool! thanks for the replies.
well i guess the questions that i have are
back in those glory days, i'm sure there was not "dog box" for FWD honda correct? how were you guys using 26s on oem transmission?!
I'm planning to run a small tire this year and really cannot afford "dog box".
does nlr really make that much of difference vs hondata/aem boost controller?
any helpful inputs would be very appreciate it!

They changed transmissions a lot. They were plentiful and cheap. Good old circuit works ring and pin with stock gear sets. Some stock gear sets would go 8.50's a few times before breaking.

the weight is one of many factors of keeping a gearset in a car.
there are many other variables to make an oem gearset work for ya.

At was at the last banquet and I left with a feeling that they were not going to be around based on the way they were pumping up the next season. Then a couple of weeks later they pulled the plug.
I miss the two day events. I miss following racers on the series.
Where is Paisley, Pappadakis, Kubo, Rau, Rado, Bergonholtz, Tran, Padilla, Shagday, Scrantons, Bullish Motors, Eggum, Ladwig........

I think a lot of people grew up... most of running then were early 20's and 30's... now we're 30's and 40's with families. I'm getting back into it now but more for personal enjoyment with a mild street car. I was at that race in 2000, we were in the H/R class and broke. car made it through the burnout and shot the left front wheel down the track in the second round after getting 3 feet down the track.
