anyone running cable trans? Doin a cheap build low boost can a stock B series LS cable trans with an LSD go 10s? Anyone have one of these antiques in there car ???

I have a Synchrotech built JDM B16S1 trans with carbon synchros and Quaife LSD in my CRX and plan to put 500whp to it and go for 10's. It shifted like butter @300whp running high 11's.

yup im also running a synchrotech tranny with a quaife in it. I have went 10.6@151in my 89 crx.

I have the cable to hydro kit for my DA and still using the cable. 100% stock trans with a Quaife LSD went 10.4 at 140

My father's CRX is using a cable GSR transmission with a hydro GSR gearset inside, complete with cable clutch actuation.

Its doable but it wont last forever, I have had some transmission take 100's of hits and last and then others break the first hit at the track.... My opinion is that the b series cable transmission stock differentials (open and lsd) are defiantly weaker compared to the newer hydro units. I broke a few before switching to aftermarket diffs or upgrading to the hydro units.

been 9.9x on stock cable ls with a lincoln locker... doesnt matter if its cable or hydro the gear stack is the same as long as its a big spline (92-2001)

sweet info... pretty sure he asked if the transmission would go the distance if it had an lsd. just an fyi there are thousands of hydro transmissions in the world that have the same diff as the big spline cable units you should get your facts straight before dishing out disinformation.

I'm on a 93 ls cable tranny with a MFactory diff and cuff. also running a CC twin disc. best time is a 10.6 and best mph is 147

92-93 GSR, 92-00 B16, and 92-01 LS use the same differential

high 11s at only 300whp is sweet because its so much less stress on everything. its all about the light weight chassis im jealous

Actually, all of the cable open diffs are the same as the ones listed above. I have seen several of both, held them in my own hands, they are the same thing.

We ran high 10s on 373whp and the next weekend sent the diff though the case.

Upgrade to an LSD and you shouldnt have any problems if the gear box is in good shape. Leave the axles as the weakest link, that is, unless its a competitive car. For the weekend warrior, its good to have a fuse.

100% agree. Axles are easy to change, gearbox not so much.

Did high 10s at 135 with a small-spline cable LS, OBX LSD.

And axles are cheaper too. Get a set of new Oriellys axles, buy a couple sets. Bring spares to tge track, bust em, swap em, trade in the old for a free set of new axles

D16A6 trans w/ Quaife and stock gearset.

10.90 @ 130.

Havent had trans issues in a while. Axles are another story...

My old crx ran 9.30s at 156mph with a bone stock cable trans. Stock diff and all. From what I remember car made around 750 at the wheels and weighed about 2000lbs with me in the car.
