All Motor Sport
So, Ive been curious ever since I started running in this class. Does anyone know what the record is for the IFO AMS class?
And please dont hate on the question. Dont say "Oh no, another record thread" Lets be honest, after research has been done, how else can we find the info.
Ive done the research, the fastest Ive seen is an 11.466 @ 121.59 mph posted on the 2014 Even Results on the IFO page. But the problem is, there are a lot of events that dont show the race results. And there might be cars at other events that fall in the AMS rules that I cant find.

Re: All Motor Sport
Really? In the AMS class, so full interior and exhaust and everything? I expected that there might be faster than 11.4, but didnt expect consistent mid 10s.

Re: All Motor Sport
We are building a car as well to compete as per class rules for the AMS class. Stock front end, bumpers, full exhaust, interior, etc. Doesn't say anything about weight though that I have seen. Had planned on hopefully having the car running 11.70s-11.80s consistently so hopefully we don't run into any mid 10 second class cars or the weekend won't go so well....lol.

Re: All Motor Sport
There isnt really a weight limitation in the AMS class. Mainly because there is only so much weight you can remove while leaving interior and exhaust before you have to start cutting and get lexan. And cutting and lexan is not allowed. But there are other ways to drop a bunch of weight without cutting that are allowed

Re: All Motor Sport
As soon as one of the competitors who is following the rules sees no back seats or panels, they will most likely tell cliff and then cliff will enforce the rules. I wouldnt count on it going un-noticed.

Re: All Motor Sport
Ours went 12.16 @ 114 first time out with the wrong size slicks for the gearing, just wanted to test out the car. Have a lot of learning to do and some seat time to get in. Also the 1.80 60fts can be much improved.

Re: All Motor Sport
Do you mean "without cutting the car and lexan"? Im assuming so since the AMS class rules prohibit that. Ive done all the weight reduction you can do without the cutting and lexan. My only problem is, my car used to be a sfwd car and still has the cage in it. I bought a new shell Im going to switch everything over, so that will drop some more weight without the cage. Fastest Ive been so far is 11.9, and that was the final run of the season. Might have gone faster if I had another pass. Every pass I made kept getting faster and faster. Cant wait to see what happens in 2015.

Re: All Motor Sport
Is that in your wifes setup that you switched out of her integra into a 93 hatch that you discussed about back in September?

Re: All Motor Sport
Yeah, got a bunch of changes on the go for it as well. Basically wanted to get a baseline for where it was with the swap as the Integra was running 12.70s. Going to be running 23" slicks with a 4.93 Final drive so that should fix the gearing up, picked up a new EMS, getting a header built and am going up quite a bit in compression as we are going to run C85 full time instead of switching at the track from street fuel. I don't know how many events we will be able to get to, but would like to try.

Re: All Motor Sport
two years ago the blacksheep squad was traveling the us going to every i.f.o. possible and was running high 10's in ams and amp. They ran both classes because the car was fast enough for amp but set up to be legal for ams.it was a flat black k series insight

Re: All Motor Sport
i guess they bought two tickets and tech the car in for both classes, they were smart i never seen that done before until i seen them do it. only thing that sucks about that is that you have to hotlap your car every so often

Re: All Motor Sport
This isn't exactly Honda related I guess, but speaking of the IFO AMS class, there is a shop local to me that has plans to "dominate" this coming season with a VQ powered Sentra. Give em hell guys!

Re: All Motor Sport
Bringing back an old thread, does anyone know if there are fuel restrictions in the AMS class, want to possibly switch fuels but don't want to put something that isn't allowed.

Re: All Motor Sport
It doesn't list any fuel restritions in the guide. The car I tuned at the shop is running 92 pump. He has been as fast as 11.46 @ 117-118ish, but didn't run that quick at the Woodburn IFO this year. But he won due to a misshift from the other driver. He was still in the 11.50's though.

Re: All Motor Sport
We've only been out twice with the car but have gone 11.92 @ 118 so there is more in it, just need some seat time. Want to possibly switch to M5 fuel to gain a bit more but wasn't sure if it was restricted.
