The new software seems great, but it seems like a lot of these software features could easily be added to the AEMTuner software for V2 boxes. In fact many of them have been requested on the aem forums (i.e. flex fuel corrections, wheel slip traction control, lean protection, etc.). Is the reason these have not been added to AEMTuner that this ecu was going to be released? I really wish this ECU was out back when I purchased my V2 :p

So here, it says, "Memory: 2GB flash drive standard"

So does that mean it has 2GB of INTERNAL FLASH MEMORY?, or does that mean it comes standard with a 2GB Flash Drive that you plug into the USB port for logging? The wording is a little confusing.

Neat... I was wondering what an IP67 ECU looked like. Anyone building a storm chaser?

Hey Chris,

Here is the answer to your question. The logging from the Infinity is done through a USB flash drive(stick). From the pictures you can see the two IP67 USB connectors. The smaller one is for the Infinity to PC communication. The larger one is for the Memory stick. The Infinity will come with a 2GB flash drive with the unit. However it isnt some sort of special flash drive you can go out to your local best buy or whoever and purchase another one. Although when dealing with larger flash drives there are different file formats that it writes FAT-32 and Non which is why we list both logging speeds. Also with the IP67 Flash drive there are covers which can seal the flash drive in place and keep it from backing out. Also there is a remote mount USB cable that can be attached as well to move it somewhere more in reach in case you are mounting the Infinity somewhere that isnt easily accessible. Hope that answers your question.

I love it: software capabilities and all. I see more than vehicle applications for this management system. I cannot wait to buy one of these. Thanks AEM...cutting edge, as always.

I have started testing on my Supra. The things worth nothing in the real world are it starts fast, and took just a few minutes to be able to create a very driveable map. Within 3 pulls the fuel map was within 2% or so in open loop. The transient fueling works very good without being over present. Once the VE table was right it just took throttle well without more time spent. This is going to make for very quick tuning in the field. The way that AEM set up the PC logging is great as you don't have to leave the screen to review/overlay the PC log that's sampling at 500hz. With the holiday weekend and PRI this week I don't know that I will spend anymore time with it but the following week I'll report back.

Thanks

Will it support the serial telemetry data like the series 1 and 2 or is it only canbus? Also, if another company is making the hardware, is it not available today in a different case or is the tuning software from AEM the real differance?

Im sure if you called them up and licensed a few thousand units and wrote your own software you would be good to go

I was told at the show AEM made their own cases for the hardware, and all of the software was done by their engineers.

The enclosure design, hardware collaboration, engine models, and software layouts were done at AEM by AEM engineers. There are currently no plans to support serial communications - only USB and CAN.

This looks waaay interesting. I need to get one, guess I should sell some Aem v1's that everyone seems to think aren't any good. I haven't had any problems with my v1 boxes, but I'm gonna need to pick one of these up.

I make lcd gauges like the one below that support the serial telemetry data on the version 1 and 2 ecu's. CAN support is in the works for the version 2. Will the Infinity support the same CAN telemetry layout as the version 2 or is it all together different. Common setup between platforms would be nice.

Thanks

The Infinity-10 CAN system will be somewhat the same, but also really different. There is no reason why you wouldnt be able to set up the Inifinty to output the same data as the Series 2 you will just have move flexibility and it will be more powerful to implement new things to display. More info on this will become available in the future

I was also wondering, how are they gonna handle triggering? Are they gonna supply just a host of pre configured trigger patterns, or will it also be adjustable by the end user for odd trigger setups. For instance will we be able to setup non-symetrical triggers, as well as triggers with uneven and or extra teeth? What about for cam control? What kind of flexibility will the end user have to setup un-common patterns for cam and crank?

What about general purpose mapping sorta like motec where you can select any axis in/out and pretty much build a table to do anything you want?

Something that's been missing from previous AEM offerings!
