Default 100 micron? 40 micron? S.S. element? Weldon? Magnafuel? What type of filters for E98?

Have a weldon 2345 pump, and am not a huge fan of running a paper element, would 2 100 micron filters (before and after the pump) be a bit overkill?? Are there any other S.S. element filters that people are having good luck with? I looked on the magnafuel site and could only find listing for carb filter setups.

Thanks in advance for any help or opinions!! There is always a wealth of knowledge here!

my opinion is there is never such thing as overkill untill you reduce flow

the more filter the better

I use 100micron before the pump and fiberglass 6 micron right before and close to the injectors.

Fuelab fiberglass 6 micron filter before the injectors and its Ethanol safe. Stock sock on intank pump does the trick just fine for pre filter otherwise i would run a 40 to be safe. Its not going to hurt anything

For the price we usually run a filter before the pump ( 74 mircon ) and after pump ( 24 micron ) both using stainless elements. We've been stocking them lately because a ton of guys are starting to switch over to magnafuel because of the price and the useability of their pumps on the street.

Current setup we're doing ( e85 1000hp ) , we have a filter under the car as well

OP: Whatever you do, don't call the manufacturer of your $1200 fuel pump and ask them what filter you should run. I mean, what would they know? They only make pumps and filters... 45 opinions on H-T is probibly better than their advice.

And no, I'm not sarcastic. At all. Ever.

We will be carrying a 10 micron stainless steel filter very soon. Should be in stock by the end of March. It will be nice to have a cleanable 10 micron ss element.

For the Weldon 2345 fuel pump you will want to use a 75 micron pre pump filter and a 10 micron post filter. If you are using E85 with this pump Weldon recommends using a minimum of a 75 micron pre pump, and even recommends filtering down to a 40 micron pre pump. Due to the fact that E85 has more "debris" than race or pump gas.

Also make sure you don't let the E85 fuel sit for long periods of time in the fuel pump. The Weldon 2345 has no plastic in the internals, so letting the E85 sit in the fuel pump can damage the internals of the fuel pump. So the best thing to do is drain the gas tank, and put a couple of gallons of gasoline in the tank and let the car run to flush the E85 out of the fuel system.

I just did a setup for a local customer using this fuel pump. I called Weldon to get their advice on what fuel filters to use and maintenance on the fuel system. This is what they recommended to me.

Well ethanol does draw in moisture, so I'm sure the water it draws in isn't filtered Fiji water. Especially the pump e85 gas.

Do whatever works for you guys. Just passing along information from an employee at Weldon.

haha i do the same thing with my aeromotive pump. never drain or pickle. But i do pickle the injectors if i remove them or the manifold with them.

Weldon 100 micron before pump and 10 after. No issues since switching to this combo

I JUST finished writing an article on proper filtration, will be up by the end of the month in the Injector Dynamics newsletter. In short, do yourself a favor and use a 10 micron or better filter before your injectors....

I'm running the 40 micron stainless about a foot from the fuel rail. I'd like to get something like a 10 but I don't want a fiberglass filter.
