Carpet Cleaning
I got a supper dirty carpet that I just removed. I called a few dry cleaners, no one seems to be able to do it. As if no one has a carpet cleaner/steamer?
Anyway, I was thinking of taking it to a self car wash and just spraying the **** out of it.
now it seems to have a fiberglass backing and some polyester foam. How will it stand up to that? Or what cleaning method should I use?

Re: Carpet Cleaning
I always clean my mats with a can of carpet cleaner, a hose, and a brush. It does a pretty good job. Just let it air dry or hit it with a shop vac to dry.

since it's out, you probably can try a good all purpose cleaner diluted to some degree, let it soak, and then spray it with warm to hot water to completely remove all of the crap and cleaner...then let it dry completely.

Re: Carpet Cleaning
megs. APC ftw. stuff works great. depending on how soiled your carpet is either try a 3 or 4:1 dilution, let it set for about 30 mins, scrub, blot and repeat one more time but letting it se for longer this time. Should end up with decent results

Re: Carpet Cleaning
hmmm, I got to find something else to clean it with. When I rented the Rug Doctor they tried selling me their cleaning solution for another $20, the rental was only $25. Anyway, I just mixed hot water with Oxy Clean. It took a lot out but there is still a lot left.
I'll go for round two.
That APC foaming stuff works on carpet as well? I would really like to find something strong, I bought like a carpet spot cleaner as well. Used it on tough spots, helped out but not too much.
I'll post some before and after pics when I get home
A pro carpet cleaning service quoted me $175 for a triple steam cleaning.. yeah.
no one else would touch it

I used a carpet cleaner but it did the same thing that simple green did.
In the end the wet vac was still taking out dirty water even after I went over it like 6 times, I just had to return it soon so I didnt have time to continue more

Re: Carpet Cleaning
the previous owner didnt seem to have used floor mats at all. I didnt wanna use any tough chemicals cause I was doing this on the front lawn.

the manual combo i mentioned previously can be finished with the shop vac.

Re: Carpet Cleaning
I dont think I could have done any better.
You dont know how nasty this carpet was. The only dirty thats left are just worn in feet marks and some sort of orange liquid that just wont come out. Probably from an orange sharpie

Holy crap, dude! I expected to see some dirty carpet when I came in here, but that is... ... wow. It looks a lot better than it did, though. What kind of scent is it putting off? lol

Re: Carpet Cleaning
It didnt smell, it was just soiled. dirty water from snow and rain and whatever else got in there. I never spilled anything, dont know what the previous owner did aside from never use floormats.
