Best wax to moisturize oxidized paint
My paint has already been professionally cut and polished once before, a couple of years ago, but I didn't keep up on waxing it so it's oxidized again. I don't want to remove any more paint so I'm looking for a wax that will "moisturize" the paint so to speak.
Have you ever dripped motor oil onto oxidized paint and noticed that it made it darker and look better? I'm looking for a wax that will have that effect.
I DON'T want to use an abrasive polishing wax, I want something that's maybe petroleum-based? Honda polish and things like that seem to work but they wear off so quickly.
Got any ideas guys? Thanks!

Any oil rich carnuba wax is going to have a much shorter longevity.
Good rule of thumb, the more oil the shorter the lifespan.
If your paint is oxidizing again, you are most likely going to have to polish it out. If you have only had your paint polished once then theres no danger of it being too think to polish out.
Try Klasse AIO and a random orbital polisher, it takes off such a minimal amount of cc and it yields fantastic results.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there is nothing that you can add to the paint to make the oxidation go away. Like dry skin, you can apply lotion, but the lotion eventually goes away.
You will need to polish the car again. Like the above post says, use a PAINT CLEANER. You don't necessarily have to get really aggressive with it. Any descent paint cleaner will do the work to remove the dead paint.

Re: Best wax to moisturize oxidized paint
I hear you. I'm only worried that I already have a limited amount of paint left on there. Last time it was professionally done with a power buffer. I used to work in sales at a Honda dealer and my buddy the detail manager did the work for me. I'm just thinking of what will restore the most color. I'm pretty sure there is no clearcoat left anymore.
I'll try the products you suggested and report back. Thanks for the tips.
Anyone have any experience with those color-match waxes?
edit - btw, this is for a Milano Red (well, used to be...) integra ls. The green gs-r in my avatar is sadly no longer with me.

Color match waxes I believe are just a marketing way...
If there wasn't any clearcoat left, you'd be left with clear coat failure and trust me you'd know when you have that. Lol.
best of luck man!

Re: Best wax to moisturize oxidized paint
There is nothin you can do to repair the clear coat diminishing on the roof especially, due to UV rays and not enough protection or cheap clear.
There is a wax to atleast make it look better, Meguiar's gold class it's filled with rich nourishing polish oils that will moisterize but even better, before you wax wipe it down with compound if you do not know how to buff, then use meguiar's showcar glaze, then meguiar's gold class.

I'm sure this is what you meant, but you should be more worried about the clear that's left, and not the paint.

if the car has already been buffed wouldn't that have gone right through the clear coat anyway? I'm just trying to keep it looking decent until I can afford to buy a used TSX. It's got 213k on it and still running like a champ, but it's an old car and i'm ready for a change.

Re: Best wax to moisturize oxidized paint
Thanks. That's the kind of information I was looking for. It's already been cut and polished so I really don't want to take any more material off, but I was thinking about using a clay bar maybe? The rubbing compound idea also crossed my mind, but again, I don't know how much paint is left on there. My buddy took off a good amount when he polished the car the first time.
More so, the clay bar is far less harsh than cutting or rubbing compounds would be. Show us some pictures of your progress.

Thanks guys. I'm waiting out the rain to get into this. I'm hearing a scraping from my left rear wheel right now so I'm thinking the inside pad is toast. Time to take it apart, raining or not.

Re: Best wax to moisturize oxidized paint
UPDATE - at the recommendation of dude at my local parts store, I tried this stuff.
And here are the results, only treating the hood, roof, and top of trunk. I only put two or three coats on so far, but I will go back and apply more at some point. HUGE improvement!

Hard to tell from the pics but it took the paint from blotchy and pasty to at least smooth and shiny, even though it's still faded. It is darker than it was and looks way better than it did.
