My antique Honda literature collection (mostly S600 and antique motorcycle stuff)
I figured I'd share this with everyone, this is my collection of antique Honda literature, which consists mostly of S600 related brochures and such, but there are some S800 T360/T500 manuals/brochures, Cub F brochures and a lot of antique Motorcycle stuff:
In cronological order:
1952 Honda Cub F brochures:
1950's Honda motorcycle brochures/literature, and owner's manuals:
This is a 1953 Honda Dream E-type owner's manual (The pic is of just the cover, but if anyone is curious to see the whole thing, I can take some additional photos. I'm in the process of importing one of these bikes)
1953 Dream E sales brochure:
1956 Honda Sales leaflet (last year for the Dream E-type)
This one's similar to the one above, but it's for the Benly JC
The 1956 Model line-up poster:
1956 Honda Benly brochure 1:
1956 Honda Benly brochure 2:
1956 Honda Benly brochure 3:
The pic below is correct, the bike is upside down, but the text is right side up, I guess this is how they designed the brochure.
Middle folds out:
This goes with my 1962 Honda Cuby engine:
Here's all my S600 stuff:
I'll start with the three variations of the owner's manual/handbook.
This was a magazine ad from the period:
Brochure 1:
Brochure 2:
Multi-page S360/S500 to T360 (pics only of front and back cover).
S800:
T360 sales pamphlet (probably given to children to do the cut-out model):
This is a dealer post-card, we think these were sent to S600 owner's as service reminders because it's got the picture of the Honda S600 service station sign:
This is my favorite peice, it's the Honda S600 optional items catalog:
That's all for now, I'll update as I get more.
If anyone else has any classic Honda brochures, feel free to share.

I guess Japan was enthralled with Americanism back then, and companies, such as Honda, would play upon that through their advertising.

You are correct, hysterical though if you think about the scope of it.
You don't see any usdm honda catalogs with pictures like this in it:
You know what I mean?

Re: (vtec.dc2)
I got a few more to add.
Here's a pretty rare brochure, 1960's L700
Here's a neat one, from the Honda "rent a car" program as showing the S600, N360 and L700 for rent.
I've got another rent a car brochure, it's exclusive to the S600, and is partially in english, and has the fee schedule in english. In the 60's for around $5, you could rent an S600 for 24 hours. I'll take some photos of that one as well and upload them for this thread.

you can export them to JPG using this method:
open the document full screen, hit the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard.
open any image editor, mspaint, photoshop, whatever, and press CTRL + V
then go file, save as whatever.jpg and throw them up on photobucket or whatever.
you can also see if theres some type of program or something built into adobe to do that automatically since that method will take some time.

Re: My antique Honda literature collection (smithenhiven)
Interesting to see the early bikes. I've never seen one in the flesh - are parts as difficult as for the S cars?
I have some S-600 lit I didn't see here so far. First, the coupe brochure
The next pieces are much rarer than the cars. Even Jason may not have seen them before.
The heater was, technically, an option though I've never seen a car without one. The next pic is the instruction manual for installing the heater.
Then we have the owner's manual for heater operation
And last we have the owner's manual for the radio. This gem is mimeographed (anyone remember that process?) on A4 paper with the illustrations pasted on by hand and hand-numbered.
Glad to share these, Bob.

Re: My antique Honda literature collection (Bobs600)
Bob,
Thank you for sharing those. If you EVER want to sell any/all of those, please give me first dibs, as I don't have any of what you've posted in my collection. I've only ever seen one of those heater manuals, and I've never seen the radio manual. Great stuff. I'm very jealous.

Sorry, I totaly missed this part of your post, I was to busy drolling over your brochure and manuals.
Anyway, parts for the pre-export bikes are more difficult to find than for an S-car. I've got a 1957 Honda Benly JC57, thankfully it's close to 98% complete. But those 2% of parts it's missing will be next to impossible to find, I'll likely have to custom make anything I need for it.

Re: My antique Honda literature collection (smithenhiven)
Here's a few more items I recently acquired:
Honda L700 Dealership Poster:
Honda T360 Dealership Poster:
Another Honda T360 Dealership Poster:
This next one's pretty neat, it showcases the Honda S90 motorcycle, and it has general info on 7 other bikes, then in the corner there's an S600. Goes to show how the S-cars got their start, being sold through motorcycle dealerships. To me, this poster kind of says "Hey check out our full lineup of wonderfull motorcycles, and O, by the way, we've got a car now too" lol
