Default Fuse help for my 1978 Civic CVCC

I need your help fellow old school HTers. Hadn't driven my little 78 and the battery went dead. I screwed up and crossed the jumper cables and blew this 55A fuse (looks like little combination wrench). I had seen there was an extra spare one on the side of the fuse box, put when I took it out it cracked. I first went to the Honda dealer and they told me that it was no available. I then went to AutoZone as my last resort and got this Bussman copper 60A fusilbe link. I am no electrical engineer so I'm asking if this fuse will be OK if not where can I find these type of 55A fuses. 55A fuse is on top of new 60A fuse. FYI it is not intact I scotched taped it for the photo purposes. I have not cranked her up since I need a jump and I dont want to impede traffic since my street is busy. Thanks in advance.

i would use the OEM style. i found some at the local auto parts' store. check out a NAPA if you have one near you. they tend to have the strange stuff like this.

Call your Honda dealer back. Or another one nearby. I have an unopened pack right here beside me that I got from my Honda dealer. This is my third pack in less than a year I have bought from them. It takes them 2 days to get them from their warehouse every time.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll go back to the dealer and talk to someone else. The guy that helped me seemed lazy and did not have a clue. I will order some. My car cranked up with 60A fuse but i want to keep her OG. You guys know how we do it. My lilttle 78 civic is still under construction and hopefully she will be complete soon so I can post some photos.

I buy them by the pack at AutoZone or Schmucks all the time.

I hate to revive an old thread, but does anyone know what link he used? I have one of the old link blocks I'm using in a custom harness in my Accord, and that would be a much better solution if they fit

If your harness is custom, you might as well just replace the link block with a PAL-type fuse? They're available in appropriate ratings, and would just wire in with some soldering and heatshrink as necessary... Neko.

I already had one of those two link blocks from the yard, and the newer links fit, so I'm just going to use those and making a fiberglass cover since the original one won't fit, I like the older ones better, since they have mechanical connections for heavy gauge wire
