Viper remote wont unlock car
All right so I have a 98 civc dx with a viper 5901 (i think) alarm installed on the car. I bough the car with the alarm all ready on it. I currently use the 2 way remote to unlock it but after i finished charging it today it wont unlock the car.
I need to get the car unlocked and drivable i dont really care if the remotes not working for a while because i can manually lock and unlock the car and where i live its not at hight risk of getting stolen.
The good news is i have my one way remote hidden i the car so im hoping to open the car with the key and then i can disable the alarm with that but my question is what do i do if that does not work and my alarm is blaring in the driveway. Disconnect the battery? cut the wires to the siren? disconnect the brain? any help would be great ?
Also any idea why this happened? do i just need to re-sync my remote ? bad install? lose wires? I heard somting about the car being in valet mode?
Thanks

The alarm has a "valet/programming" button, should be semi hidden under the dash but reactable from the drivers siting position, turn ign. on and press and hold the button and alarm will turn off, "Disarming Without Remote", the alarm has "lost" the remote controls code, once in the car and alarm disarmed you can reprogram the remote to the alarm. 94

if it's newer viper, the valet is on the antenna... and if it is, they are notorious for having wonky antennas that just need to be reset. the codes are still there, but the antenna has gone retarded.
and i try to avoid posting instructions on how to disable an alarm openly on a forum.. hence why i pm'd him the info

They are correct. You should take it back to your authorized dealer/installer for diagnosis. They are the ones that can warantee the unit. Consumers cannot. It could just be a faulty wire or installation.
OP, when you lock/unlock with the remote does the alarm arm/disarm and the door locks just don't work? Or does nothing happen at all?

Although it should not have been used, the remotely, [hidden] mounted one should have been used, either way, it is the valet/program button.
Take my word for it, I'm not giving info that is not already out there, telling someone how to disarm his Viper alarm without remote control, is not a secret.
Telling someone how to do it without the car key or the valet/program button should be avoided, and I would not. 94
