Default Viper 5002 and 02 RSX

I just bought a 2002 RSX base model for my daughter and the guy that owned it had a Viper 5002 alarm installed. I know nothing about the alarm except how to arm and disarm it. Today when my daughter went to open the car up, she hit the unlock button on the remote then opened the door. The horn started blarring and she waited until it turned off. She then hit the unlock button again and retried the doors. The horn started blarring again, so she used the key in the lock to shut off the horn.

The remote no longer transmits a signal to the alram and the LED light for the alarm does not come on. Any ideas of what the hell happened and what I need to do to get it working again?

Sounds like the alarm is not tied into the factory alarm to shut it off. The viper has the capitability to arm and disarm the factory alarm. You need to find out if the car has a factory alarm or a aftermarket karr brand installed into the car. Its one or the other.

As far as the viper not working. Its either out of sync with the brain by pressing the remote 2 many times while the brain is trying to get a signal. Or the brain is not getting power or the anttena is not full plugged in.

How do I know if the car has a factory alarm?

Here is a free site to get your wiring diagram.
www.bulldogsecurity.com

The car comes with a factory keyless entry system. The alarm part will be piggbacked off the lock and unlock of the keyless entry system and should be a black box that says karr or a plain unit. Most of the time you will see t taps. Can you get to the alarm brain? If so I can walk you thru tagging the viper alarm into the rsx.

Well, we took the battery out of the remote for a few seconds and reinstalled it. The remote is communicating with the alarm again.

She now tells me that when he arms the alrm, it does not actually lock the doors. When you hit the disarm button, I can hear the hatchunlock, but the doors do not lock.

Any ideas?

Looks like a common problem in the rsx, ep3's. I'll need to replace the drivers door actuator
