thoughts on NRG hood lock?
think this is at least another good layer to prevent thieves from getting under your hood to do damage? I'm not sure if the seller is referring to safety as to the hood flying up or to keep people without the key to the hood out.

Re: thoughts on NRG hood lock?
Doesn't look to tough, With a small prybar and hammer I could get them open pretty quick. More of a LOOK WHATS UNDER MY HOOD sign, than an actual theft deterrent. I'd rather weld a loop to the underside of the hood and a lock to the body and run a short section of steel cord between the two, enough so that you can pop the hood, release the latch, and then open slightly more to undo the lock.

I personally would rather use the actual Aerocatch over the NRG version for two reasons, one the circle key locks can be defeated by a chewed up bic pen tube and two, the Aerocatch version the lock is flush with the catch, not an add on cancer blob looking lock... I'd be willing to be that NRG is taking the non locking units, adding a lock and the CF overlay and re-selling them specially since the NRG uses the same anodized red pins.
Would either defeat a criminal? short term it will slow them down (makes underhood alarm sirens and battery connections a bit safer) but there is always a way around everything so Yes I'd call the locking Aerocath a nice layer addition.

added functionality of having a locking one is just a plus... not everything is fool proof and you'd be crazy to think if it was. nothing is 100% theft proof.

just make sure its not giving you a false sense of security. sure, it will slow a thief down, but if they want something under your hood, its gonna be theirs.

Re: thoughts on NRG hood lock?
thanks for all the input guys, i think i'll go ahead and order the aerocatch, not to give me absolute security over the car, but just to add another layer on top of other stuff i plan to add.
