Default Tamper Proof License Plate Screws

I just had my license plate stolen yesterday and I figured I'd register and post here to see what you guys have done to prevent this. Does anyone know what kind of screws are needed for a 96 Civic? I believe they are sheet metal screws of some pitch. Once I learn that, I'd like to order some tamper proof screws. Security torx, or snake eyes, or something like that. Any ideas or other solutions?

Thanks.

Mark

I think Mugen makes license plate bolts.

I have these and they'll come off with a normal hex driver. They're definitely not for those who want added security.

Use four different screws. Chances are, the thieves will only carry one or two types of screwdrivers.

But then again, I had my lower right corner of the plate cut off for the sticker itself, so if they really want it, they'll get it.

I got my hex type license plate bolts at Wal-Mart. I think it is a good investment at a few bucks. A punk randomly stealing plates will most likely be carrying a screwdriver and not a hex wrench set.

One method to better protect against registration sticker theft is to score the sticker many times with a razor blade such that it can't be peeled off in one piece. Even though this trick will do no good if the thief steals all or part of the plate, at least you have the piece of mind that the f*cker could not use it.
