I just purchased a subwoofer box from a local store for $75 for a 12'' sub. It is 3/4 inch think wood and is very nice. I'm putting an Infinity Perfect sub in it and I was told the Internal volume is around .85 cu. ft. The Infinity Perfect's volume says 1.0 cu. ft. My question is should I look around for another box that has 1.0 cu ft.? Will it make that much of a difference?

I would say try it and see( unless you can't take it back.....don't know if thats what you had in mind ).
You can add Acrilic fibrefill (pillow and quilt stuffing...available at Wal-Mart cheap) to the box before installing the woofer. A rule of thumb I read was around 1 lb of fiber fill to 1 cuft.
The fiber fill will make the speaker perform as if it is in a slightly larger box.

crux is right. I always put fiber in my stereo boxes.

One rule people follow is that smaller boxes give you more boom (volume, and not necessarily clear volume), while bigger boxes don't give you as much volume, but it is crisper. Something like that.

I want to ask this. Doesn't putting fibers in the box make the sound more muffle instead of clear?

What are "standing sound waves?"

Break it down for a 3rd grader pelase.

I believe standing waves refers to the wave produced by the motion of the cone. Inside the enclosure, that wave reflects against the box walls and the next wave. If the enclosure sides aren't perfectly parallel, this is decreased some.....This is my untrained understanding, take it as nothing more.......The fiber fill helps to reduce...or break up these waves.

That's sound logical. To play off that, it would mean that a "truck style" enclosure is "not" as good as one that is a pefect square? Because when the standing waves would not be even since the line of impact (bounced waves and new waves) crash into each other at different points depend on if it's on the top or bottom of the box.

No, a perfect square wouldn't be better. A box shaped like a perfect square/cube, would be more prone to standing waves because of the pairs of parallel walls. Having at least one wall not parallel with its oposite will help fight standing waves. If my statements were incorrectly phrased, I apologize for the confusion.

A perfect square or cube enclosure isn't always going to sound worse than one with a slanted face, .....you may not be able to hear any difference if both are equal in all other areas. A perfect square though would be more prone to create standing waves, so therefore are usually not recommended.

Is there a place on the web that shows how to do installs? I want to install my wires for now, while I am waiting for my actual subwoofer because I'm just to damn anxious and impatient! I've been looking around and I was also wondering if Chiltons Manuals are any good? Not only for stereo mods, but for others as well?

Yah, a little broad on that question. I just need to hook up my amp (Punch 250.2) and a subwoofer. So, I wanted to know how to hook up the power on the right side of the car and then the RCA's down the center. Also, where would you recommend installing the remote lead turn-on and the Punch Pass (which is like a telephone cord?). I want the install to obviously be as clean as possible.

Try using carpet padding, I worked at a custom stereo shop and that was common to use. You can buy it just about anywhere

I finally finished installing my amp. We ran the power and the remote turn-on on the right side and the RCA's and the Punch Bass on the left. The hard thing; where did find a close ground? I used the bolt on the upper right corner (where you take the plastic piece off). It was kind of far away, so if there's a better place let me know. All I'm waiting for is the sub for now, so everything is good, my wires are clean, and my Punch Bass remote is mounted above the fuse box by my leg, looks really clean....just can't wait until my Infinity Perfect comes!
I'll let everyone know how it sounds!

Where is the amp mounted at? You can always drill a start hole and locate the ground closer to the amp with the apropriate self tapping screw, and a star washer. Also, you may/probably want to scrape the paint around the ground slightly, so that you have more bare surface area for the ground to contact.

I mounted the amp on my rear driver side seat. Gosh!!! I'm so pissed though, it's been 8 Days and I still haven't received my subwoofer yet! The guy who sold it to me shipped it Parcel Post from New Hampshire. I told him to send it Priority, but people seem not to take notice. Does anyone have any idea how long Parcel Post takes anyways on average? I have everything ready, except the dumb sub!!! Ahhhh!!!
