sql type enclosure for 12" kicker comp????
I have a Kicker comp 12" I would like to get more output from. It is currently installed in a sealed enclosure, around 1.6 cuft before driver displacement( if memory serves ).
I would like to go with a ported enclosure for it. Kicker recomends an enclosure with 2 cuft. with a 4" diameter port...9.25" long. Another website gives me a 4.8 cuft enclosure, tuned to 25.65hz, using Kickers specs for the woofer.
I can go more than Kickers reccomendation as far as volume, but would like to keep it under 4.8 cuft( it is going in my crx )
Does anyone have any suggestions??
I can pen and paper and calculator out a box plan with some suggestions, but have no Idea where to start on a ported box( that isn't just using Kickers specs ).
Any idea for tuning frequency? I am guessing Kicker reccomends around 35 to 40 hz, since those are common manufacturer specs.
Help, I am kind of new to ported enclosures, but like the way they sound when designed correctly.
Thanks

Here, download this box designing program:
http://www.linearteam.dk/defau...sdpro
Punch in the numbers and play with it. It will tell you exact dimensions and what that will produce. Just watchout for your excursion when you design your box...that 7.5mm is tiny.

It'll help you for sure. Much better than guessing or asking what others think is a good box size, when you can see it for yourself and customize it whichever way you want. I know it works for me Just don't forget to read the help file on how to use it, 'cause it might be a bit confusing at first.

Re: sql type enclosure for 12" kicker comp???? (fcm)
It is a Competition, not a Comp vr.
It is probably an 03 or 04 sub. I have had it a few years now. It has the tribal graphics on the dust cap/inverted dome center. It was clearanced right before the all black models, with the ribbed/reinforced molded cones came out.
I have been quite happy with this sub. For my usage, it has sounded excellent. I just would really like to change things up...See what else I can do with it.
I will play winisd some more tonight, but will still take suggestions. This way I have something to compare with my findings as far as air space and tuning freq.
Thanks
