OEM stereo...cleaned, still skips
I was curious, I have a 99 civic oem cd that I cleaned today with a cd cleaning disc ( you put in the disc, let play through its cleaning setup, I did it 2x, and then put in a brand new cd.
Played fine for a few tracks, then started skipping. I cleaned it again and it plays fine for a song and skips.
Any fix to this? Ive been trying my hardest to keep her OEM down to the smallest detail however, I ve had it up to here....
Unless theres a fix Im unaware of...

Those cd cleaners don't really work imo and they could actually damage your unit rather than do good. They are meant for some tray loading cd players not slot loading. What you could do if comfortable with it is open the unit and lightly use some isopropyl alcohol on the optics as a last resort, A dust free environment would be best. Also i know this may sound dumb but make sure the audio cd you are playing is not scratched or defective causing skips.

^ yeah...I used a brand new cd, I think it needs a real cleaning, however if I get involved in pulling it, I may as well change it.
Jamaica Queens.....god I love that place. Im just across the bridge from you. Qnz has more character though.

Yeah, i'd agree with a cleaning.. could be some stuck dust particles on the optics. you could give it a try and still keep the car bone stock as you'd like.. if you ever sell the car the next person will change out the cd player no questions asked lol, Queens is pretty neat indeed and since that casino opened up there's a lot more activity here lol, you're in Brooklyn?
