speaker recommendation for 92 civic hatch (yes noob)
Currently I have no sound no headunit no speakers. I'm picking up an aftermarket HU (probably pioneer). what front door speakers would you recommend to be powered by the HU and no amp. budget is 50-100 bux(closer to 50). I was going to just pick up some low watt rms pioneers from best buy but I always hear people say you can always find better speakers for the same price elsewhere. So, what's out there? future plans include MAYBE a bazooka tube in back (but maybe not, it's just a beater car). I'm not an audiophile just need some decent sounds.
btw, my front doors don't have the plastic speaker baskets so should I look for 6.5" speakers or are 5.25's still ok? in the interest if sound, should I look for those oem speaker baskets? also should I lean towards 6.5" speakers?

The easy "fix" is to find a set of speaker housings and get a set of standard 6.5" speakers, Infinity makes a pretty good one for the price, it is not a standard 6.5" but comes with an adapter plate... http://www.infinitysystems.com/car/p...=CA&Region=USA
An easy install if you have the OEM speaker housings, if you make custom MDF speaker panels, [1" MDF] you will get better sound out of whatever speaker you install, with custom MDF panels you would not need the speaker adapter, the mounting hole would be cut to fit the speaker you get.
For rear speakers, get the same thing and disable the tweeters, [disconnect cap].
Stay the hell away from 3way and 4way, a 2way coax or point source is all you need. 94

you have a specific set of infinity's in mind??
btw just wondering does the original speaker housing make a difference (compared to just mounting it in the inner door panel) considering it's not really a sealed enclosure? the housings I've seen have a pretty big hole on the back end.
