Soundeadener Removal??
I am in the process of redoing the sound deadening in my car as far as everything goes.
I had put in sound deadening mat with the foil backing from elemental designs, I believe it was some form of edead.
I can't say it was the best but don't think I would buy it again, not trying to degrade their product.
So the story is that I had a tail light leak and partially due to my improper install technique a good amount of water got under then deadener and next thing I know the back of my car is water logged and seeping water everytime i put something in my trunk.
Now i am trying to remove everything I can and it is not coming out easily, I know you can use dry ice for the factory deadener but I really didn't work at all with this stuff! I have been peeling and cutting and chipping for a few weeks now . I am at the part of my car now that wasn't ruined by water but I want it all out and it weighs a freaking ton and am trying to keep my car as light as possible at the moment. Any ideas?
Thanks for the help

Re: Soundeadener Removal??
I misapplied a bunch of Dynamat Xtreme that, a year or two later, I wanted to remove. A 10 dollar heat gun helped, but it's still a real pain. Old credit cards and a trash bag to catch stuff worked alright enough, get something with a metal scraper but rubber/plastic handle cover to avoid burning yourself with the heat from the heatgun, and get fabric gloves.
It'll mostly come out.

Re: Soundeadener Removal??
I have been trying to research a little bit and it seems that keeping it really cold would be the best idea, atleast with my specific product.
People were saying that heating it was making it stick even more then before. I know that when i used the dry ice i was thinking it would make it break apart like the factory stuff but have no come to the realization that i need to freeze it and then proceed to try and pull it off in large chunks.
I was working on it the other night, it was about 20* out side and i did manage to get some huge chunks out really quick, so i think the cold helps to stiffen the deadener and almost make it pull away and be more flat/ brittle.
