my bro is in nyc right now and his alarm wont recognize his remote. this just happened out of nowhere. if its anything like my viper, he wont be able to start the car. he changed the remote battery but its not it.

what are his choices in order to actually getting the alarm off and starting the car with the key?

Well, unless you can locate the switch to try to reprogram the remote, you're sortof stuck...

Can you find the brain to the alarm?

You'll need to know how many presses the button is programmed for.

Then, you get in, turn the key to "on" (don't start the car), and press the valet switch the predetermined number of times. Usually, it's default is one press.

If it's been changed and you don't know the number, you're beat.

If it's the two way paging LCD remote, hit the little button on the back until you see a little 1 on the LCD screen.

Check the antenna connections at the antenna and the brain. They may look okay, but make sure they're fully inserted and have some slack.

Then check the battery and ground connections. I've found that a weak ground can cause bad reception but the alarm will still seem to work.

BTW, if the alarm isn't armed, you'll be able to start the car just fine since the default start kill setup is normally closed.
