Is it possible to put Cadillac Horns in a Honda? I can't get it to work.
I know I've heard a couple people say they put in horns from a Cadillac... I pulled the dual horns from an old Cadillac, and they had one wire that split and connected to each of the horns. Therefore, the ground must've been where they bolted on. On my single horn (91 Civic), there's two wires that connect- the power and the ground wire. When I bolt on one of the Cadillac horns and connect the power wire, it goes off constantly without pushing the horn. So I can't figure out what to do. I tried connecting the horn without letting it touch the metal and grounded the ground wire somewhere else, but that didn't work either. I tried other stuff too, but nothin worked. Any ideas?

Re: (OldSchoolHatch)
k man this is an uber bitch to do because of this
caddilac horns rely on the + to bring power from the switch.
on a honda the switch is just creating a ground.
so as u can see they are opposite, if you bolt the caddy horns to the body and hook up a 12v line they will be on all the time!
now my way is very ghetto, i took zip ties and zipped them to the plastic fender trim (i know ghetto, shutup)
i had to splice off the horn signal wire and hook that to the ground prong on the horn then hook up a constant 12v to the prong on the horn.
i swear to god that install of horns was a bitch *****, not worth it imo. lol

When I did mine I just threw in a relay to switch the ground with the +12.
I didn't have that tough a time with it... The old horn was just embaressing... Now, Horns off a police cruiser... that tends to get peoples attention.
The only trouble is that I have a hard time trying to nicely get peoples attention... If I hit my horn they start looking around for the Truck that's about to drive over them.

Check out the dual-tone Hella horns (http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=77573). They're easy to install, loud and sound different from anything else out there.

I finally got it to work! I tried using the relay to switch the ground and hooked it up exactly how you're supposed to, but it didn't work. So I tried shortyz method and it worked- thanks! But you have to leave the horn clip connected to the original wires because it completes the circuit. I had cut the wires, so I had to wire the clip back on. I also had to connect extra wires for the other caddy horn because they're dual horns. Now that I've got it workin, I can either leave the honda horn connected or not. I think it sounds better with it because there's three different tones! It should get people's attention when I need to.

Just in case anyone else does this, keep in mind that you probably won't be able to have an alarm that uses your horn. I had a place install a compustar alarm that can use the horn along with the siren, and it wouldn't turn off even when we pulled all the wires that were powering it, and the horn was going nonstop instead of just beeping. The alarm was fried so they had to replace the unit and siren. The reason it did that is cause the caddy horns work on a positive and I have them wired straight to the battery.
