My dad has a 97 CRV with a aftermarket head unit. He wants a keyless entry system installed. I had a Omega keyless entry system in my civic years ago and it worked great. I'm wondering what some of you installers or anybody whos installed a system on there car use. I'm probably gonna go with a omega rec-12 system, but I wanna see what else is out there and do some comparing..

Autopage RF225A. Great setup, can be either basic keyless or alarm through the horn. amazing bang for the buck if you ask me.

Currently use viper 5902, but am considering zenises. Not that my particular system has had issues, but I've been dealing with small issues with other viper product. It's minor stuff, I'm sure I see it more with viper bc viper is so popular, and like 85% of what I install is viper, but I've never heard of any issues with zenises. I've been eyeballing this system: http://www.zenesisalarms.com/zn502.htm . I'll prob wait until after CES at the end of winter and see if zenises has anything new up their sleeves before I make the purchase though.

i love the zenesis stuff, but i doubt CES will change anything considering they are having issues with the ZN-502R production. been on back order for like 4 months.

Zenesis is the biggest crap fake compustar ever. And this is from personal use. Pia to program, Remote allways seems to fall out of sync, Remote start has a mind of its own and will work when it wants to. Horriable tech support and techs. Be my guest to try them.

Biggest thing. Try finding a remote for it if your happens to break or you lose it while your on vacation, out running around. More venders for dei brands then anywere. You could pop into most stores and get one. Not for this unit. I see them a a fly by night and will not last to long. Or becoming a ebay alarm.

been dealing with them for almost a year, no programming issues, no remote sync issues, no remote start issues. never had a problem except a zpass programming issue. never needed their tech support.

Your one of the lucky few. Op sitck with a brand that supported in your area. It would be bad to never be able to have a dealer to support your product. This is on what ever you decide to go with.

DEI products all the way, easy to find replacement anything. Tech support is superior, and life time warranty.
If he wants just a basic alarm non R/S i would suggest.
Viper Responder 350 2-Way Security Alarm System.

I'd have to agree, DEI tech support is phenomenal! DEI is definately everywhere and easy to get. I've never had any MAJOR issues with them, they never seem to "have a mind of there own" or anything, I just find myself reprogramming settings and remotes every now and then...

but DEI tech support is only available to dealers. it has nothing to do with the consumer side of anything.

agreed that the viper 350 Responder is a decent unit, but for the same money the autopage RF425LCD is also a great choice. like WRX said...find something that is supported by a local shop.

how long have you been dealing with black widow?? reason i ask is black widow used to be amazing stuff. originally created by david levy, one of the "masters" of the relay!! glad to see someone bring up some gold old fashoned names.

For a very long time, it is still a division of DLC, as I mentioned we still carry the "older" stuff but are dropping their newer 2way and combo units, too many problems, not just the same problems but all kinds of diff. ones.
I just had a meeting with our rep, [DLC] yesterday and he confirms that they are fazing out the 2way and combo units with new product coming soon, he also is letting us return all 2way and combo units we still have and swap it with the 1way remote starts and the key-less entry units.

As I said I have been dealing with DLC for a very long time, almost 30 years, we get, [and I always have] just about everything to do with car audio/video/security installation from them, including tools, kind of a one stop install bay shop.

My most favorite alarm that I owned was an Autopage unit. I don't remember the model number, not that it matters anymore, They still make great stuff. I had a RHD converted BB6 prelude, it was in the shop for a cpl weeks getting motor work done, and it was stolen from the shop, with that alarm in it. The only reason I didn't get another Autopage is bc Im not a dealer for Autopage, but am for Viper. Like I posted earlier on the thread though, my next Alarm will prob be Zenisis, I'm not a dealer for them, but know plenty of ppl around me who are. If I didn't know of any dealers around me for a product, I'm not going to get it, no matter how bad I want it. Having dealer support is a HUGE advantage when it comes to car electronics. I would never buy online just to save a cpl bucks, the one time you think you're getting a great deal, is the one time you get the bad product out of the box, and you're screwed. I know this from experience!

Keep us (me) posted on the new BW / DLC stuff when it's released, i'd love to see it make a comeback!! i actually have a copy of the 6th Edition Bosch Relay guide by DLC...that thing is amazing!! it's even cooler than the old JLAudio enclosure fabrication book. (any one have a copy of that??)

I have both books and a bunch of others, the relay books are great, it is amazing what you can do with relays. 94
