Installed New Radio - Dash Lights Don't Work
Hi! I'm new to this and I just recently installed my pioneer deh 4800MP radio and i did cut the wires from the original radio and connected them to the pioneer. It works perfectly. I noticed the other night that my dash wasnt coming on. When i installed the radio i noticed that two wires, red and red/black, were'nt needed. I'm assuming that this is my problem?
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks!

it doesnt have oragne wires, but i did cover the extra wires. the only other wire that was left on my radio was the blue wire which is for the remote. and yes the exterior corner lights do work. maybe its a fuse under the hood?

i think it has to do with the multiplexer? im not really sure what that means or how much they cost. and im also not sure about the dimmer circuit either.

have you tried something as simple as making sure the dimmer switch was plugged back in when you reinstalled the dash bezel? This more then likely has nothing to do with the radio, as the dash lights still work even with the radio unplugged. So, there are 3 things that happened. 1) you blew a fuse 2) you cut a wrong wire somewhere (not likly) and 3) you forgot to plug the dimmer switch back in.
Start with the basics. make sure everything is reconnected properly, then go back and make sure you didnt nick or cut any incorrect wires. The red/black wire from the radio harness is for the illumination of the RADIO only, not the whole dash, so it doesnt matter if its not connected. Plus, it serves no purpose on an after market deck as they do not come with dimmer control.

it would be orange coming off the adapter if you had gotten it i think its brown on the factory harness(not sure, consult a manual) but it wouldnt hurt to check the underhood fuses though like muffin said if your exterior corner lights work it cant be the small light

MM&Y of car would help.
The unused red lead is dash light ground from "Dash Light Brightness Controller", the dash lights are dimmed by controlling the amount of ground they get.
The unused red/black is dash light power, [hot when park/head light switch is on].
Test for power on this lead with the head light switch on.
Both these leads need to be capped off if not used, as you say you have.
As already mentioned by JDM_DC4_Fanatic check the fuse for dash lights, make sure "Dash Light Brightness Controller", [dimmer control] is plugged in. 94
