Default Heandunit problems!

as i was unplugging my ecu there was a small spark uner my dash by the glove box. other then scaring the crap out of me i didnt think it did anything. however, now my radio will not turn on. i have a pioneer headunit and thought i blew its fuse i took it out fuse was fine. i took appart my dash and found that the retard who owned the car before me rigged it up to the stock radio headunit which was hidden on the floor behind my cub holder (96 civ. coupe). i also noticed that my car remote does not lock and unlock my doors. is the stock HU fried? why does nothing work? the pioneer HU wiring harness was spliced into the stock harness. it was not a jumper harness.

in the 96-98 civics with the factory keyless entry, the circuitry for it and the domelights are built into the radio. if they just used a regular honda harness, they needed to keep the oem deck in there for the stuff to work to get around it, unless you get a 70-1720T harness from metra that will allow you to keep the factory keyless and the dome lights.

But if you do not want to keep the Stock HU plugged in behind the dash, you will need to install a jumper and harness like this... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...HAK3B
or hard wire the aftermarket HU harness, make your own jumper, or cut the two leads and connect them together.

That just leaves the key-less entry, you will need another R/F unit, any alarm system will do. 94

i was looking at the scoche harness, how exactly does it work. the second dark gray plug from your link has no wires. does it just trip a few wires within the second connector to allow domes and keyless? cant i do that myself? i have a harness which is spliced into my stock harness then goes to my pioneer hu. can i use that one and figure out a way to trip the second connector?

also, with the description i gave does it mean my stock hu took a **** and if i simply replace it all is well again? this blows

The small plug has a jumper lead so when plugged in it connects the dome light input and output leads together, normally done in the stock HU.

If the stock HU is mounted behind the dash and still plugged in and door-locks and dome light still do not work, then yes you have a problem with the HU, and replacing it will solve the problem, however, it's a lot easier to just install the jumper, [dome light will work] and an aftermarket alarm or key-less entry for the door locks. 94

are there any diagrams where i can see where the dome light input and outputs are and does that plug also jump the keyless connectors...sorry for the questions im just determined that i can fix this problem with five minutes of wiring for free instead of ordering a $20 harness and then having to install aftermarket keyless.

The jumper will only allow the dome light to work, not the key-less, for the key-less you will need the stock HU or an aftermarket R/F section, like an aftermarket key-less entry or alarm/starter system, the stock R/F section, [the "part" that gets the signal from the factory remote control] is built into the stock HU, and it would have to be installed like this... http://www.installdr.com/Insta...3.pdf

Although not needed this is the harness will make the job a lot easier... http://www.scosche.com/scosche...HA07B
otherwise, you are going to need to cut and extend leads. 94
