Default Great 6.5 Component Speakers?

This is my second thread in this forum. The first one was very helpful with the help from FCM and a few other guys. So now that i know about size of speakers and how to fit bigger sizes in stock panels, my next questio before i make a purchase next week;

What is a really great set of 6.5 speakers that are compatible with the Alpine CDA-9338 Head Unit?

Im looking for a speaker particularly "Clear" at high volumes and also good with bass, since i wont be using an amp or a big speaker box. Something thats good as a stock replacement but also virtually more intense in clarity and bass.

If you guys can offer any help please let me know, right now im looking at some brand new pioneer speakers from this guy off craigslist for 100 buck for 4 speakers two 6x9's and two 6.5's.

The 6x9's would essentially be for my rear integra speakers and 6.5's for the door.

So what range of "watts" am i looking for?

Thanks in Adavance guys and gals.

1) I haven't heard a set of Pioneer speakers that have made me want to buy them over the competition. I'm not completely familiar with every speaker the company has ever made, but if Mr.Craigslist is selling 4 Pioneer speakers for $100...I'm going to assume they are borderline garbage.

2) If you aren't adding an amp for your door speakers, don't concern yourself with the speakers' amount of power handling. Don't look for "watts" in other words.

3) All door speakers are compatible with the Alpine CDA9338. There is no specific brand that will sound amazing with that deck versus another brand sounding like crap with that deck.

4) Get a sub. You don't have to take up your entire trunk...find a place that custom builds sub boxes and fit a small 10" or 8" woofer in the rear of the vehicle. TRUST ME on this, you will be 50 times more happy with a small sub then trying to force bass through a door speaker. Even if you find a speaker that produces a decent amount of bass, it will NEVER be able to hit all the nice low end frequencies that a sub will produce...resulting in a much FULLER sound of course. I cannot stress this enough, and I get asked this daily at work (I work for a car audio company).

...my personal preference? Focal or Morel are exceptional speaker manufacturers.

Agree with comments already mentioned but if you can tell us what kind of music you like and where you have the most fun listening to it is at I'd about guarantee you'll be 110% satisfied with your equipment choices some of us may recommend based on this info.

Are you the guy in front of the bass stack at a club all night or are you the guy who sets up camp near the sound board at concerts whenever possible because you know sound is generally the best at this location? Or maybe you're just the normal person who likes music but has maybe been in situations/listened to systems where you thought to yourself "Wow....I wish I could have something like that in my car or home". If there's particular things about systems at concerts you've been to or clubs or <x> that caught your attention either good or bad that'll might be helpful as well.

For instance, it wasn't incredibly surprising to find out I felt a pair of ID horns I auditioned few years back sounded way too harsh. It's the same comment I'd made countless times about club systems. Granted they're being overdriven to begin with but nevertheless smooth/tonal/etc are words I've never used in the same sentence that contains the word 'horn'. Harsh and overly bright definitely are though.

If, for instance, you were to say you also notice how the high frequencies can be a bit over-bearing at some concerts/clubs I'd ask a few more questions but more than likely I direct you right past horn tweeters, hard dome tweeters and show/possibly recommend you purchase soft-dome tweets.

I agree with you creepshow about the pioneers probably being garbage, but u should hear the ts-c720prs pioneers. They retail for about $550 and they sound better than 4 pairs of speakers on our board that are at least double thier price.

The eclipses FCM reccomended would be good, or look into focal Access. Swap out ur rear 6x9s for 6.5"s dynamat the doors and rear speaker area well and ur in business.

My Focals sound beautiful. I am very pleased with them. Vocals are rich and smooth. Highs are not tinny or over-bright, mids and lows are crisp.

i recently just installed a 8inch JL sub in my ej8 and i'm very pleased. I was never into stereo systems since they take up so much room and weight (damn y8). I was looking for a little bass and didn't want to spend much. I spent only a total of $170 for a new sub, used amp, wireharness for deck, 100 amp fuse protector and wires. The 8inch sub really does the job for me.

I'm got a free set of 6.5 pioneer 220 watt 3 way speakers and they sound pretty good compared to stock.

thank you all, myou guys gave me alot to consider. I went into best buy just to see what i liked from what they had. I found some pioneers there that i felt had a nice clarity at the high end volume but also i found some inifitiy speakers 6.5 and they sounded great for about 79.99. I came to a conclusion that slowly ill build the sound system but right now im just in dire need for some 6.5 speakers because i have 0 speakers at all. thank you all imma take all of these comments into serious consideration.
