Default Clifford & Viper....differences?

hey sorry for the newbieish question, but all i've been doing is spending money making my car go faster..... which is fine as long as i am the one driving it. now it seems to me i need a good alarm, in searching this site, as well as the manufactures sites i haven't found a really big difference between the two (i know they are made by the same company) does anyone here have any big prefrence, and why?

Thanks
Scary

I have heard some people say viper is good, then others say clifford is good. I personally think its the same exact thing in a different shell (but i dont know much).

Viper and Clifford Matrix are the same thing, the G4 stuff (everything else) is completely different. From a car theft standpoint the G4 is much better, they use dual point immobilization with onboard normally open relays. This makes it much harder to drive the car away. Clifford also has better security options. This is not to say Viper is bad, just not as good. Alaarms are all about installation though, poorly installed Clifford is worse than a well installed Viper.

What security features do you want? What convenience features do you want? For a basic Clifford (Concept/Intelliguard) be prepared to spend about $500 with good installation. More sensors and convenience add to cost. I will say this again, the installation is much more important than the brand.

i will say this so you all understand. You can get the best alarm system, if you have a bad installer it aint worth a cent. Everything is in the install. Such as if the dude installing uses standard wiring code underneith and just crimps or tapes the connections that aint good. Also the placement of the wires. Thinking as a car theif I could get the door popped in about 30 seconds. And if the install is quick i can get under the hood and and cut the siren and start to work in the car. Immobizers are great, Backup batterys, hood locks, basically the best thing is get someone that knows what they are doing and get as many small options as you can. And park your car in safe areas. = )

whenever i look for alarm systems, i look at the remote when it comes down to similar alarms (clifford and DEI which is one company now). look for the one that is more appealing to you physcially, is more ergonomic, and has more channels (incase you wanna get crazy with wut ur alarm can do: headlights, sunroof, windows, hydraulics LoL)

If you go to Best Buy they sell Clifford and the instalation is free or included when you buy the alarm. I got a Clifford for 330 with back up battery getting sirens in car for 15 a piece and motion detector for 100.

Don't go to Best Buy for an alarm or any of those chain stores for that matter... go to a car stereo/alarm shop that knows what their doing.. or better yet.. get one of your homebois (that knows what he's doin) to install your alarm like me... me and him go way back.. so he installed it for the cost of meals =P...

chain stores.. they do a basic installation which I guess you get what you pay for.. but a theif will rip out your lower dash and disable the alarm easily.. alarms are all about install.. a top of the line alarm w/ a bad install is less effective than an OK alarm w/ a good install... yeah it will be functional w/ the Circuit city or Best Buy installs (it works).. but in terms of security... it doesn't do much as the ease of the installation is easily defeated.. but then again.. since your not paying for a good install.. thats why your not getting one..
