so it's that time to upgrade the tool box once again with some tools. I've been looking into circuit testing equipment. so far i have the usual tools nothing fancy.

• Multimeter
• Test Light (Continuity Tester)

Your usual stuff...


I'm looking into more or less of an actual all-in-one tester like the Power Probe. PP3CSFIRE - Power Probe III in clamshell (Fire) Anyone can drop me some personal reviews would be much appreciated. Looking forward to the responses.

look for a fluke multimeter used thats been well taken care of, pawn shops etc, a sperry like a DM-4400A is a really good solid general use meter too, but if you are going to use it all the time, you can't go wrong with the fluke,

the sperry is dirt cheap, but is actually a really good meter. I bought some junk at the pawn shop, and they threw one in for free, they thought was dead, cleaned it up, new fuses, and works perfectly, I use mine constantly.

I actually own a Klein Tools Model # MM2000 True RMS Digital Multimeter. It does pretty much everything I want, but I thought it would be more ideal to get the actual powered probe. The one I listed detects breaks, polarity, and even has the ability to send power out to test things like relays.

the power probe is nice!
I have one in my box next to me as I type this.
Being able to power different circuits is nice, just don't be a jackass and send power to things that don't need power... IMO I love it and its worth the $200 I paid. still use my fluke meter doe

Also, with the power probe, you can set the meter to send a specified amount of voltage. like some circuits only require 5v and you can set the probe to send that specified voltage.

SOLD!!! I'm going to order tonight!!

I just bought dear old mom a 92 Civic hatchback Auto of course. Having some issues with the climate control motor. Tested the motor on the bench and it powered up fine. I tested the relays, and continuity test on the wiring.. Still comes on when it wants to. It is a strange one, but I figured if I had this probe meter some of the things I needed to do would have just been that much simpler.

link me to this probe, I may end up needing one in the future here and it sounds like a really good item to have, I had found a really good deal on a fluke clamp ammeter at the pawnshop earlier, and put it on layaway, I'll also need to be updating some of my electrical gear in the near future, if this apprentiship falls through then I'm going back into the electrical field in some form

Good advice. Also, the Fluke 4025 is a another good one and can be found used and cheap on eBay.

Good for automotive work, easy to read, reliable and rugged - will take some banging around.
