Not only does this hu require a fused power source also this unit must be grounded as well. Do you have a clean ground?

Sorry to hijack, but does it require a fused power source if you don't plan to use the built in amp?

If this is the case, just take it back to them and demand that they resolve the problem.

are you experiencing similar distortion in the rears? If so than i doubt all 4 speakers are blown problem may be hardware or install related. If not, than you could have an issue with the fronts.

agreed. if you purchased the hu and had it installed by CC, then yes, take it back and demand a resolution.

CAn you swap in another set of speakers to test it? EXtra set kcicking around? borrow a buddies?

If i was you i'd take it back to circuit shitty. I'm going to buy a deck this week, probably from them, and they have that free install promo. I really dont want anybody touching my car, but i'm half considering it just if a problem came up they coudlnt argue that i did the install and voided a warranty or some ****?

do you have a subwoofer?
how loud do you listen to your music?
what music do you listen to?
are the speakers properly installed without any leaks around the basket and the factory cutout?
is the media expander on?
what built in eq preset are you using?

to get the most out of the V-drive 60x4max or 26x4 rms you need to connect the constant power (yellow) directly to the fusebox or battery of the car and ground (black wire) directly to the chassis. 10g wire is overkill imo. i'd just take a couple of 18g primary wires and double them up by twisting them on a drill.

any decent shop will charge extra to do this because it takes extra time to do it right. Even though it's suggested in the manual to do this, it's not necessary when you are not using the built in amp.

hey dude... if the shop has installed the headunit properly ie all wires etc right, then it should be fine.

i think what YOU need to do, is read the manual, go to alpine site, learn about all the settings, and play wiht ur headunit.

the 9835 is a highend unit, which comes with personalized eq settings, crossover settingsd and time correction. most likely its ur crozzover settings that are making ur speakers distort.

5.25" speakers are not going to be able to handle bass notes. its just not physically possibly. so while the speaker is playing full range (ie the cross over filter is off) its going to distort prematurely purely because its trying to play bass notes, and it cant.

read up in ur manual about the crossover settings, and change them to high pass filter slope. that way, ur speakers will filter out the bass notes. u'll be able to get alot more volume out of ur speakers. the processor and amp in the 9835 is quite good, so it should be sufficient for now.

oh... and if u want bass, ur either going to have to get bigger speakers, like 6x9s in the rear, or a sub, OR just not listen to your music loud mate.

its a tradeoff.

CircuitCity offers a lifetime warranty on their install, so if something isn't right with their installation, they have to fix it, if someone in the RoadShop disagree's, ask to speak to the Sales & Installation Manager. If you want, you can take it back to a different RoadShop location since CircuitCity warranties their products and installation at all locations. If they disagree, ask to speak to the store manager. Also, if you're not completely satisfied with their install within 30 days, you can take it back for a refund. Just a word of advice. Thanks!

u still havent read ur manual have you? LOL

manuals are there for a reason. it will tell you exactly how to change it between 3way and 2way.

on the bottum of the actual headunit are a couple of switches. one of them changes between 2way and 3way.

have a look

you DONT need the fused power. i didnt do a larger gauge for mine yet. But its all in the settings. I havent has time to play with the EQ settings, but its all in that. Best thing to do is load your own custom settings onto it from the Alpine site and go from there. Mine does the same **** , just too much highs and too much lows on the preset settings.

The 2 wya and 3 way only matter for when you are using thre preouts correct?

A guy at a local shop told me not to even bother to hook up the main ground and power wire, but just to use the harness. Could this be why my speakers seem distorted slightly at low volumes, and lack anykind of bass. ANd i have pioneer 3ways all around.

Sorry to steal the post. Related Problem

Then why would Alpine ask to have it done?

Of course you can use the harness but to get the full performance out of the HU it requires a fused power and solid ground. <-- per Alpine tech

you are asking about your mids and highs breaking up , that is not becuase of not running a fused power. Think people. Your **** is breaking up becuase because the settings are off. If you used the presets then i can understand it. Mine are doing the same becuase i havent played with it yet. But how can you tell me your speakers are breaking up and distorting from not running a fused thicker power? Thats retarded. Yes it will help for more power and flow, but the more power isnt going to make them sound better if they are already breaking up. I just dont understand anyones logic here. Everyone is too set on Tech said this, rather than using common sense.
