Best Police Scanner/Budget
I was looking for a police scanner in the $100.00 range which on is best?, or do you think it's better to wait and invest more?, just to give a heads up when the finest are swooping in on our races

Yea but I've seen some ones online that mount to the car (not handheld) that are around 100.00 the same price as the radioshak ones, but seem to work a lot better.

Re: Best Police Scanner/Budget
Well I do both, thanks for being polite about it though, I know it's unsafe and it is NOT something I do often, but I am not risking all over investing 100.00 in a good scanner. We do it on a open road with absolutely NO traffic. It is 4 lane, and deserted at night, we don't have crowds of people standing dangerously close to the street, only those racing go. I don't mean to advocate this, but we actually care about how we do it.

Re: Best Police Scanner/Budget
There's nothing illegal about owning a police scanner. Some civilians are just interested in what is going on around them, or interested in hearing what their friends and family in uniform are doing.
Since the poster mentioned streets races in his first post, one might have inferred that he was joking, since our anti-street racing, pro-safety point of view is very well known across the Internet.
However, the original poster engaged his detractors in a way that would lead people to believe that he might not be joking, so it is an offence.
The offence should not be repeated if the original poster wishes to remain at the site.
We are opposed to racing on public roads. Period.
