Default alarm constant / ign / starter wire problems

So i tried hooking up my viper 5900 yesterday.
I connected the alarm 12v and the relay's 2 red and 1 red/white stripe together to the thick-ish white wire under the dash. I also connected the pink ignition to the Black/Yellow.
Was that wrong to connect all the 12v's?
I grounded the alarm and the led didnt come on. That would signal if its on right?

CAR (12v website):
Constant 12V+ White Ignition Switch Harness
Starter Black/White Ignition Switch Harness
Ignition Black/Yellow Ignition Switch Harness
Ignition 2 Yellow Ignition Switch Harness

ALARM RELAY BOX:
Red- constant power
Pink- ignition
Green- Key side of the starter
Purple- Starter side of the starter.

Do i need the green/purple connected? If so im a bit confused as to where they go.

yes the green and purple need to be connected as well.
Those wires are the starter disable wiring.

purple goes to starter.... green goes to switched side

If none of this makes sense..stop and run to your local MECP certified installation specialist for assistance.

So the purple/green go to the same color wire but one leading to the starter, and the other coming away from? how do i tell the difference? I just replaced my steering column because of a recent theft so i have a general idea what the ignition switch looks like if that's what i need to go off of.

The two thick reds and the thick red/white wire all need to be connected 12v right?

Yes the reds and red/white have to go to 12V+ constant, although not necessarily to the same place.

The purple and green both go to the starter wire, [black/white]... http://64.85.6.121/diagrams/pr...eID=3
The starter wire needs to be cut, leaving you with a lead that comes from the ign. switch, [connect to the green lead] and one going to the starter motor, [connect to the purple lead], starter kill is built into the "Relay Satellite Unit". 94

wow, now i get it. ty

im going to give it another try tomorrow, ill post back on how it goes. plan on stopping by radioshack and picking up some supplies. The one thing im scared of is the unit not powering up (non-ebay online seller). Once it's all hooked up will the led blink right away right?

Not sure on a Viper 5900, what it will definitely do is go into valet mode. [using ign. key and valet/program switch] it is the first thing I try, if a system is not responding to the remote, it is a simple and basic test, all it will tell you for sure is the system has constant power, switched power, ground and the valet/program switch and LED are plugged in properly [if you can put it into and out of valet mode].

The system should be completely installed, [service "mode"] before testing.
Your fist connection should be your ground(s) and the last is to install the fuses in the constant power leads, turn on the ign., [quiet power-up], and connect the batt. neg.(-) cable, [that you have had disconnected during the install, except when testing a lead to confirm it is what you think it is and before connecting a lead from the alarm/starter to it, you did that, right?] once batt. is connected, turn off the ign. and test the system, if it does not respond, try putting it into valet mode.

Let us know what happens. 94

if the yellow is considered ignition 2, does it have to get hooked up to the alarm's pink/white ignition 2? seems like most say dont use it.

The remote starts pink/white should be connected to the cars white/black, [2nd acc.] and connect the remote start acc. output. [orange] the the cars yellow, [1st acc.] 94

alright so everything was successful!
got all the wires hooked up and everything works appropriatly. once the power was connected it took about 2 minutes before the led came on. starter kill works when armed. only problem i had with the install was on day2 i was running the siren wire, moved the 12v wire into the brake pedal and sent sparks everywhere. after examining i realized i forgot to tape one connection which happened to be the most important. happily i realized i only blew an easily replaceable 40amp fuse under the hood.

well, i am very happy with it so far. have not tested the battery backup yet. im kinda anxious for someone to try and steal it to see how well itll hold them off.

thinking about showing pics of underdash fuse panel to show a well done clean install.

only problem:
1. trunk and door trigger activate as the same.

still need to buy/do:
1.get relays for fuel pump/horn/lights
2.get motion sensor
3.piezo siren
4.manual bypass module thing

What wire on the alarm did you connect the trunk trigger into?
It should have been H1/7 blue. 94
