Default adding aftermarket actuators for power door locks. help!

got a new alarm, added aftermarket pdl's. i have two wires coming out of each side power door lock actuators. there are 3 saying "negative door trigger, positive door trigger" and i dont know where to put each of the wires from the actuators. i know they work because i tried the on a 12v battery each way and it locks and unlocks. anyone know where each of these go? or have a link that tells in plain english. remember the actuators are aftermarket. thanks!

The "negative door trigger, positive door trigger" have nothing to do with the door locks, they are the door pin switch inputs to the alarm, you will use the neg.(-) door trigger, [if it's a Honda/Acura we are talking about] Ford is about the only one that uses pos.(+) door triggers.

If your alarm does not have built in door lock relays, [few alarms do] then you will need two SPDT relays to connect the aftermarket actuators to, and you wire them like this... http://www.the12volt.com/doorlocks/page3.asp#arp "Actuators/Reverse Polarity" and control the relays with the door lock outputs of the alarm. 94

BTW what is the MM&Y of your car and the make and model of the alarm?

93 civic, bought a cheezeball alarm to open the pdl. just added the actuators...
okay i can do the "actuators/reverse polarity" thing. how do i wire a switch into this? and is that a ground symbol at the center of the right relay? Thanks for all your help...

if you mean the symbol that 87a of both relays are connected to, then yes it is a ground symbol, just ground to chassis, use one of the dash harness grounds on the drives lower "A" pillar.

If you also want a switch for the door locks, [not needed when wired to alarm] you can use any SPDT momentary switch, [off/on/on] and connect the common of the switch to ground and the outputs to the same places as the alarms lock and unlock leads on the relays.

If you want a stock look go to the bone yard, [wrecker] and find a 92-93 Civic with door power locks and get the switch from the drivers door, or both doors. 94

Then just connect the switch to where the alarm would connect up to the relays, [86 and 85] 94

ok i get all of it except the switch. so the switch has 3 plugs. where does each go? thanks again.

-to clarify, i am going to use no alarm. just a switch. so i use the "actuators/reverse polarity" guide (which i can do) and as for 85 and 86, where does each of the two wires go on the switch? (i assume i use the 3 plug switch). and where does the last plug hook up? ground? thank you for your help, i really appreciate it!

This is the factory honda switch? If so one wire is ground. The other two are unlock and lock outputs. Can you give the wire colors

The factory switch will just look better, but any two pole momentary switch will work, the factory switch ground input is probably black, the two outputs are probably green/white and green/orange, connect the outputs to 85 and 86, [where the alarm wires are going on the relays]. 94

okay i am finally actually doing the install... done except for the 2 actuator wires. on the diagram for the "actuators/reverse polarity" the bottom two wires go to the actuators (shown as connections "30"). so that means; for the sake of ease we will call the left side door actuator, "actuator #1" and the right side "actuator #2". you may have to be looking at the diagram you gave me while you read this to understand. i made it as easy as i could to make some sense:

on the diagram shown there is a connection called "30" on each relay. "actuator #1" has 2 wires. one goes to "30" on one relay and the other goes to "30" on the other. and then the same goes for "actuator #2." so that they each get the signal to unlock/lock. am i correct? thanks again, i have never done this. maybe it is not so bad after all... hahah, we'll see...

That is correct the 2 wires from each actuator go to #30 of each relay, at this point it makes no difference which relay each wire goes to except that it is the same wire, [color] from each actuator going to the same relay, EG; blues on one relay greens on the other relay. 94

i dont know how you can do this, it really just boggles my brain because im trying to understand how it works and not just do it how the diagram showes. i did some research on relays to get how they work. i am going to finish the alarm in the morning but i hope you dont mind if i have another question or so just in case. i really appreciate your help. i wanted to do this myself. not for the money savings, but because i love working on my civic! again, thank you. much appreciated.

YW...
Once you figure how a SPDT relay works, it will all be very clear, 12volt .com has some good info... http://www.the12volt.com/relays/relays.asp

No I do not mind answering more questions, I am a car audio installer with a lot of experience off on medical leave for the last 2 years, have you seen my post count, I am here all the time. 94

okay fcm the complete alarm is in. the car does everything right except that it wont unlock the doors when i press unlock. it locks just fine but will not unlock. i more than double checked the wiring and it is perfect. can you tell me how to check if it is the alarm or the relays? (the relays i used were in my garage for a year, they are used and were rained on months ago. i went to 5 stores and no one carries those relays! help please!
