99 keyless entry
Okay so I ordered a remote the other day for my 99 civic lx 4dr. I got the car just over a week ago. All door locks worked flawlessly. I wanted to get the keyless fob as the previous owner never had one. I programmed the remote according to instructions. It works for all doors except for drivers door. And now the drivers door doesn't work via the drivers side panel or the remote. It acts like the the lock that sticks through the door panel moves a little bit the first time I do this however doesn't lock or unlock. Again it all worked before.
Instructions I followed were:
1)All doors and trunk shut fully
2)Turn key to on position hold lock button on remote for 1 second
3)Do that a total of 4 times, on fourth time the locks make a "clunk" sound but does not cycle. It is now in programming mode. Within 5 seconds hold lock button for about 1 second locks will cycle.
4)Turn ignition off and remove key
5)Get out of car and remote should work.
My only problem is that they don't cycle when in programming mode. They just make another clunk sound.
Any help? I have searched and just seen people with issues of not knowing it locks worked before the remote and their actuator was bad. However I know my actuator is good.

Re: 99 keyless entry
Yes I can. I just went out and say in car locked the door by just pushing the lock down. Locked all doors as normal. Hit the switch to unlock and all doors unlocked including drivers. I then tried to lock with switch and all but drivers door locked. So I locked it using the the door lock again. Then tried switch to unlock and same symptoms. Unlocked all but drivers door.

When you get the no function on the drivers lock is it doing absolutly nothing or is it "trying" to move.
Sounds like the actuator is on the way out.
Have you noticed any other intermitant electrical functions on the drivers door? Mirrors, window or speaker?

If it tries to move and doesn't what does it feel like if you manually lock and unlock it? Notice any abnormal resistance like it's binding mechanically?

Nope unlocks and locks with ease. So you think it is just a coincidence that the they happened at the same time? Just seems odd to me. They easy to replace? The actuator that is.

Yes to both questions...stuff happens.
One more thing you can try that should confirm the actuator going bad.
Try from the passengers door switch. If you get the same non function you know where your problem is.

Re: 99 keyless entry
Could be the supplier of the part. The high number may be for the actual lock assembly and not the actuator?
From the dealership the lock assembly is $117 and the actuator is $58. Those are list prices and most dealers will apply a discount.

A lot of people have the misconception the dealer is expensive.
72155-S04-A02 is the part number. Where I'm looking the sell price is $40.46 plus shipping if needed.
