Hi,
So I have a 00' Civic Hatchback with a 96-98 Climate Control and I want to change the bezel to the 99-00 so that I can have a 2 Din radio and it looks better also , but I'm wondering about the climate control system. Do I need to change anything (wires or some sort)? Because the one I have the controls are "manual" and I have been told that the one I want to swap to is electric. I don't know and the people that told me this is not sure either. I post the pics note that they are taken from the internet.

Mine looks like this, only difference is that mine has the clock on it instead of a "coint holder" or whatever it is.

You have a 1996-1998 Civic bezel, then... not a 99-00 Civic bezel. Therefore, either someone swapped out your entire HVAC system to run the more modern automatic climate control, or you're unsure as to when your car was made.

I know I have a 96-98 bezel but the documents of my Honda say that the car was made in 2000, . What I'm thinking is that this bezel was made only for U.S. market (?), this is my guess though.

Found this in Wikipedia about the Civic "In 1998 for the 1999 model year, the Civic had some updates for both the interior and exterior. These redesigns could vary according to the country of origin for the car. For example, in some European countries there was no redesign to the climate control area or to the rear of the sedan models"

As for Wikipedia, they don't specify... but there were no climate control/rear section changes to the 1.4i/1.6i limousine hatchbacks. The coupes, hatchbacks, and normal sedans all saw climate control changes. These facts are irrelevant for the US-market, though. Ours changed after '98, to the automatic climate control style.

Ok, so yesterday and today I tried to search my VIN number in the Vin Decoder linked and it can't find my car.... well ****. I can post a pic of the VIN and you try it by yourself. Other than that does ANYBODY know how to swap bezel to the electrical one and have the climate control functional?

you need everything that's under the dashboard including the dash itself because the air ducts are different.

Do you know of any websites that sell the parts that I need? I've been searching and found some DIY threads here in HT and in one of them the guy wrote that for the conversion one would need the the 99+ Climate Control console with Climate harness, Complete heater core box with heater core harness, Complete blower box and the Dash vent. Being a small country where I live with few EK Civics I have to buy from the outside. I've tried Ebay but I didn't find anything but the electrical Bezel.

Junkyard would be the easiest, but if you're looking to spend a ton of money... call your local Honda dealership.

how did you get a clock onto your bezel? I want one. where did you get it?

As has been mentioned, you need a lot, starting with the HVAC control head/radio housing, dash, heater box with all its step motors, wiring harness and duct work.

It would be a lot cheaper/easier, [100s of $$$] to just install a flip-up HU in the stock spot.

BTW, the clock was an option and it fits in directly where the small pocket is.94

Where do you live? I know that here in Brazil all the 96-00 civics came with the 96-98 climate controls. The 99-00 US climate control were not available. They also came with the optional clock.

I live in Iceland and my car was manufactured in Europe (or so I think) but I'm from Portugal and the time that I lived there I saw all the EK's 99-00 models with the 96-98 bezel. I don't think everybody that owns a 99-00 changed their climate controls to the 96-98 . I think they were all manufactured with the same bezel/climate control. And the one that I want to swap is a US version.
