Default '97 Honda Accord LX Stock Stereo issue

Hey everyone, just bought my first car and it happens to be a '97 Honda Accord LX.

I'm not car savvy considering I'm still a high school student and don't really know a heavy amount of stuff about cars.

Anyways, the issue is that the left front speaker and the left back speaker's are both out.

There is one in the door on the driver side, and one under the back windshield behind the head rest of the back seat (not inside the back door).

The past driver left a Kenwood radio in the vehicle and it's all setup, but the speakers on the left side of the car are out. I used the balance setting on the radio to check the right and they work, I checked the left and they are both out.

Any ideas on where I should start?

Next steps would be to remove the radio and check the connections. HOPEFULLY a wire harness was used to connect the radio to the factory plug in the car.

One that looks like this:

I'm assuming you don't have any test equipment to check for voltage or continuity, so here's an easy way you can check and see if it is an issue with the speaker outputs on the radio, or the speakers themselves.

Once you get the radio out(again, assuming the wire harness above was used.) You should look for the Kenwood wire harness wired to the Honda harness above. It should look something like this:

Disconnect these wires:
-White & White/Black(which are for the driver's side front speaker)
-Gray & Gray/Black wires(passenger front)
-Green & Green/Black(driver's side rear)

You know that the passenger side front(gray wires) are good & work so you are going to use those wires to test the other speakers.

Take the Gray & Gray/Black wires coming OFF THE KENWOOD and connect them to the White & White/Black wires coming OFF THE HARNESS/Plug/ADAPTER.(First Pic) Take the White & White/Black wires coming OFF THE KENWOOD and connect them to the Gray & Gray/Black wires coming OFF THE HARNESS/Plug/ADAPTER.(First Pic)

What you have done is switched the signals to your front speakers. The signal that is normally sent to the right front speaker(we know works) is now going to be sent to the driver's front speaker. Turn the radio on.

Do you hear any music/noise coming from the driver's side speaker?
Do you hear any music/noise coming from the passenger side speaker?

Music/noise coming from the driver side speaker and NOT coming from the passenger side means that chances are the speaker channel/output coming from the radio for the driver's side is not working. Long story short, you will need a new radio.

If music/noise coming from both speakers, you may have had a bad connection. Put things back the way they were.

Repeat the steps above for the Green & Green/Black wires.
