Icon2 95 Civic Stereo Issue

Trying to hook up a Dual XML8150 in my 95 Civic EX, since my Sony was ripped out. Checked all the connections to the radio itself, everything is in the right place. When the three main wires where hooked up correctly, the radio wouldn't turn on. However, when the accessory & battery wire were hooked up together to the battery the radio turned on, but got hot quick.

I know the radio works and all the fuses are good, but I'm not quite sure what the issue is. Anyone have an idea for me?
Thanks

Check for +12v between accessory wire and ground and battery wire and ground. My bet is you won't have it in one of those two places.
