The last time we saw spy shots of the upcoming 2017 Civic Type R, it was seen testing at the Nurburgring. Instead of doing rigorous laps around the Green Hell, according to the article from Car Magazine, the new CTR was last spotted driving on public roads in Spain. The CTR may seem like a race car with number plates, but it still needs to be able to be perform well as a road car. The rumor going around is that Honda might be bringing a near-production ready CTR to the 2016 Paris Motor Show early next month. Crossing fingers!

As of now, Honda hasn’t released any official specifications for the Type R, but sources say that the hot hatch will be producing around 340bhp (345 horsepower) to the front wheels mated to a 6-Speed manual gearbox. With that much horsepower, one would think Honda would consider fitting the CTR with an AWD system. However, rumors suggest that the R will indeed be sticking with the good old FWD formula just like the previous generations before it.

Looking at the photos, we get a clear look at the interesting 3-tailpipe center exhaust along with the ginormous rear wing. Up front, an intercooler is seen hiding behind a large air dam as well as side air brake ducts. Even with the camouflage, it’s hard to hide the aggressiveness of the CTR’s exterior design.

So far so good Honda. Now please hurry and send them over to the States. We’ve been waiting 15 years for another Type R…
