Is This The Most Powerful K20 Swap MR2 Ever?
I was invited to a dyno-day in Schaumburg, IL this past Saturday and one of the highlights was this K20 swapped MR2. Assisted by a big Garrett turbo, this car did some test pulls before putting down an impressive 819 horsepower. If I’m not mistaken, that might make it the world’s most powerful K20 swapped MR2.
I showed up once the car was already strapped down, so I don’t know too many details on the build. I couldn’t tell you how much of the block has been built up, or even how the idea of the swap took place. The owner was busy in the car, and as you can tell from the video, it was a bit loud as well.
The cool night worked well for boost and this MR2 really did put down some solid numbers. However, the one bit of information I was able to get was that this won’t be the last visit to a dyno. Some extra work needed to be done with the blow off valve spring, and they will be back for more.
