Honda Teases Us with a Sexy Sketch of the Upcoming 2018 Odyssey Minivan, Which Is Making Its World Debut Next Month

While the minivan typically doesn’t receive the strong media coverage the enthusiast-adored Civic does, the Odyssey represents a very important segment player for Honda. The sleek family ride has been one of the best-selling minivans in the US for over a decade, and is a profitable model despite the SUV and crossover market transition. In fact, Honda has sold over 2.5 million Odysseys since its debut in 1994. We can only expect the 2018 model to continue such positive statistics.

The all-new 2018 Honda Odyssey minivan will make its global debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show on January 9. The 5th-generation minivan has been completely redesigned, and will feature new powertrain technology, sophisticated styling, and showcase a new suite of innovative features. Honda claims it will be the ultimate in family-friendly design and packaging.

Along with the futuristic sketch of the 2018 Odyssey, Honda also released various hand-drawn sketches called “teaser scribbles.” “We wanted to have a bit of fun by sharing some of the drawings from children of the Odyssey team members, since they were inspirational in shaping the family-friendly direction of the all-new Odyssey.” Said Chad Harrison, chief engineer at Honda R&D America and the development leader of the new Odyssey.

Named the most popular minivan with individual American car buyers for six years running, the Odyssey is leading sales again in 2016. The Toyota Sienna, and now the Chrysler Pacifica serve as the segement’s biggest rivals. In addition, the Honda Odyssey has been the most popular minivan with under-35-year-old buyers in every year since 2010 according on IHS Markit data.
